Picked my car up from Nevada, so I still have an undrilled front bumper and wish to keep it that way. 13 months of ownership and haven't gotten a mention about the front plate.

That has been tried in my state. A bill was even introduced to eliminate it. A police organization said it was necessary to identify cars. The bill went no where.

Attachment of plates to vehicles — Violations enumerated. (Effective until July 1, 2011.)

The vehicle license number plates shall be attached conspicuously at the front and rear of each vehicle for which the same are issued and in such a manner that they can be plainly seen and read at all times. However, if only one license number plate is legally issued for any vehicle such plate shall be conspicuously attached to the rear of such vehicle. Each vehicle license number plate shall be placed or hung in a horizontal position at a distance of not more than four feet from the ground and shall be kept clean so as to be plainly seen and read at all times. In cases where the body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this section is impossible, permission to deviate therefrom may be granted by the state patrol. It shall be unlawful to display upon the front or rear of any vehicle, vehicle license number plate or plates other than those furnished by the director for such vehicle or to display upon any vehicle any vehicle license number plate or plates which have been in any manner changed, altered, disfigured or have become illegible. License plate frames may be used on vehicle license number plates only if the frames do not obscure license tabs or identifying letters or numbers on the plates and the plates can be plainly seen and read at all times. It is unlawful to use any holders, frames, or any materials that in any manner change, alter, or make the vehicle license number plates illegible. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle unless there shall be displayed thereon valid vehicle license number plates attached as herein provided.

[2006 c 326 § 1. Prior: 1987 c 330 § 704; 1987 c 142 § 3; 1969 ex.s. c 170 § 10; 1967 c 32 § 18; 1961 c 12 §46.16.240 ; prior: 1947 c 89 § 1; 1937 c 188 § 36; Rem. Supp. 1947 § 6312-36.]

And that my friends is how I get away with it now everytime. I state that in this law, my 04 rx8 didnt come with brackets and only dealers installed them and I can not afford to have one installed for it is over 300 dollars plus labor! And I get away with it.

Also, I need to find the law buy its illegal to put a plate in ur drivers window now, as this dude got killed by his in a crash. So WA made it illegal for saftely.

Permission must be granted by the State Patrol for that to apply and everytime I ask them they deny me.

I run the non motorized plate holder. I only leave the plate out when I'm parked. While driving i tuck it in.

*Edit* I bought it here for cheaper:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/flipdo...te-manual.html

I mounted it offset, not in the center. I like it and so far haven't scraped it yet. Although I just lowered my car about a week ago, but still no probs yet. I'll have to post a picture later when I get home.

in Churchill county NV, if the vehicle did not come factory with a mounting placement for a front plate it's fine... none of my vehicles (87 rx7, 92 prelude and my 8) have had a front plate since I have been stationed here

Nevada HP is not inforcing any missing front plates. Rear plates must be present and well lit. State is planning on only issuing front plates in the near future to save $.

As long as you stay here you will not need any.

In the past 12 years I've lived in Portland, Seattle and now Vancouver, WA. I've driven 2 S13's, an FD and my 8, none of which have had front plates. It's only been mentioned by one cop who pulled me over for it, but just said "maybe you should think about getting one." I think he pulled me over to check out the car. No ticket or even written warning.

First ticket i ever got was for no front plate in my MX-3, in Darrrington of all places.

I have owned my 8 since beg of 06' and in the past year i have been pulled over 4 times for no front plate. so i fabricated a front bracket under the drivers side of the MS bumper. Its a BS law what we need to do is try and prove that it causes drag and therefore reduces mileage in the case of the 8 it reduces cooling. Last time i got pulled over for it i received 140.00 dollar ticket, i had to take pictures of the plate installed to have it thrown out.

Been plateless for a month now in Oregon; no trouble. Just remember to say that the plate intereferes with the air intake of the car and that you have the plate with you in the car. Warning every time, never a ticket.

Haven't had a plate in 1 1/2 years. Got pulled over once for not having it but he just pulled me over and had to find a reason ( walked up to my window paused, then walked to the front of my car and said I don't have a front Lis plate.) Then when I got pulled over for speeding he said put one on. Still not going to put one on.
