Where to drive in Seattle???
Where to drive in Seattle???
OK guys, due to some personal reason, I've been driving around around the Seattle area, enjoying the road (and waste gas :P) but it just simply makes me happy.
So any recommendation where to drive around? I live in downtown Seattle and I go to the Alki beach most of the time, greenwood area, Shoreline to Lynwood, and Kirkland/Bellevue. I've been living in Downtown for almost 5 years and it's really nice to drive around looking at all the trees, sea, and scenery, especially in the evening.
Any recommendation of where should I go next?

You need to hook up with us for monthly drives, although not necessarily IN Seattle, but in the surrounding areas. Here's the link for the next drive in November:

I like to go hiking on weekends and I tend to go to Cougar Mountain, between Issaquah and Renton. A couple weeks ago on my way back, I made a right out of 166th instead of a left, figuring I'd eventually hit I-90 and stumbled upon an incredible road. It starts out with an incredible view of the Seattle and Bellevue (though houses have claimed most of the best look-out spots) then proceeds to wind its way down the mountain with smooth pavement and banked turns. It's really a blast:

Don't let google maps fool you, the road doesn't perfectly follow the line Google draws, it's not nearly as straight. Only downside is the first bit is decidedly residential, and to get there the way I tend to, off Coal Creek Highway and then Forest Drive, you pass at least 12 of those "you're going this fast" signs that set off my radar detector like crazy.
Then Kris would have to help me out with this one, the road I took back to 520 from wherever we dropped off the M-3 was pretty incredible, made me pretty jealous of the guy who lived out there.
Lastly, just head out 522. I enjoyed driving out there to meet up for one of the TWR drives.

05TiGr8Lady: Yeah I'll try to gang up with you guys sometimes for sure!
Easy_E1: I did Mercer Island once, It was really nice late at night but just like you said, lots of cops there, even though I don't speed, I'm kinda paranoid especially with yellow haha.
Anijo: Wow, that sounds fun but might be out of my range lol, would give it a try sometimes though.
Keep em coming :D

I actually went down it again yesterday, it's got a lot of leaves so be careful, the corners are completely blind, no mirrors or anything, so understeer could be catastrophic. The section that Google shows as perfectly straight leading up to the S curves going down the hill isn't straight at all, and what parts of it are have a lot of ups and down.
I live in the U District and it's ~20min from home. It's right across I-90

20min based on traffic. I went on Sunday via 520 then 405 and it was fast enough, but in the past I've taken 5 to 90 and it's always been a mistake, especially on the way back.
