Thanks bro, but it's just a lease... All told it'll only be $150 or more a month than the RX, so from that point of view... It's NOT a bargain, but it's not that bad either.

Congrats man, that is a great car.

Personally I'd do None More Black leather interior and black exterior. The black on black to me is just so classic BMW; plus it looks bad as all hell.

$2100 for their nav system with all the other bells and whistles might be worth it - kind of depends on the quality of their nav system and the cost/availability of current maps and whatnot.

When you look at it that way... For me, ANY payment would be a lot of scratch...

I like the red interior, but I'm partial to red. TheBri is right about black on black being classy, though.

Black cars look sooo nice when they are clean, but it's nearly impossible to keep them clean in Western Washington. I work with a guy who has the grey. It's very classy looking and actually hides dirt a lot better than the black.

Hrmm, But the Black on Black seemed kinda dry... Ya know? I'm trying to have a mid-life here... I am thinking if I do the Black exterior I am definitely going to do the Red N Black Interior.

I really like the Arctic metallic though, and with that it's a hard call between black interior, or Grey interior.

The Silver though really brought out all the lines and curves of the thing which was cool, but I dunno. I'm going to have to wait until I see them first hand again, the pictures just don't do them justice.

Very True, My Motorcycle is all Black and it is a MOTHER#&*$@&^ to keep looking good. This brings me back to the Arctic metallic and Silver. Problem I have with the Arctic is it's just a little soft ya know? The Coupe is sporty and the Arctic Metallic seems a little Grandma's House on Sunday kind of.

Stay the F*ck away from iDrive! Every review I have ever read including the most recent cars say the navigation is just so bad and causes everything else to be so screwy that even the main car mags say to not get it and get an aftermarket nav if you need one.

Oh, and dark grey whith the red/black 2tone FTW

I've gotten a few votes now for just that exact scheme... I'm going to look into it a little more. The Dark with the Red-Black.

As for i-drive I hear a lot of horrible stuff too, but it's all from Automotive testers who are frankly English majors and therefore smoke WAY too much Pot to really be trusted. Seriously though I am going to go mess with it. I haven't heard much of anything from owners, all the bad stuff I have heard have been from the same sources as you. Too be honest I've begun to wonder if it's just something to bitch about because they cannot figure it out immediately.

The couple of owners I have spoken too over the years about it have raved about it.

For me, I dunno seems like a fun toy, and the way it integrates with your i-pods menus and the voice activation for most functions with i-drive sound pretty handy.. mostly it comes down to aesthetics. I'm not sure that the second hump in the dash is acceptable, and hell I just got a Nuvi 360 for xmas that rocks...

My second color choice would be the Arctic color with all black leather interior; which is basically what my 8 is. I love the white exterior with black interior color scheme on just about any car. With a nice buttery wax job on that color it's really easy to keep clean.

One more word of advice: be careful about what other BMW owners tell you. BMW has Fanboys to beat the RX8 community any day. I know because about half my friends are owners and have fallen into that trap. They will tell you that your BMW will be more reliable than a Camry, sip gas better than a Prius, and outturn an Elise. So it would come to no suprise to me if they said that the iDrive was the best nav ever and their BMW is actually their Girlfriend too. Don't get me wrong, they are fantastic cars, but seriously, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!

I know exactly what you are talking about. I've pretty much voted i-drive off the island, I will wait for my next car in three years and then decide. By then the i-drive should be very nicely handled. Besides, I already have a nice new Nuvi GPS. Would be a shame to not be using it.

No I am familiar with the BMW Fan boy thing, it's much like a slightly snobbier Hayabusa thing and they are some pretty rabid fan boys. But on the flip side, I think there is a positive to a machine or company having legions of devoted, (even blindly devoted), fans. To me that sort of blind allegiance means that whatever the thing is, it has to be pretty damned good. Good enough that normally logical reasonable people kinda loose their heads and get all giddy. So it's always good to be aware of the legions of fans, but at the same time there is going to be some real serious reasons behind their allegiance.

Regardless, i-drive has been voted off the island already. Next up on the block, steptronic Auto with paddles, or standard 6 speed? I sort that out today and make a final color decision if possible.

I think Grrman cars were meant to be silver. Kinda like Italian cars were meant to be red. I think Silver is just such a classic BMW color that always looks good. That's my vote.

That and as long as you are leasing you probably won't have to worry about all the crazy mechanical stuff that will go wrong after 60K miles because you'll be turning in the keys. It will just be the crazy electronic stuff...

^^+1 a BMW with an auto might as well be a Mercedes station wagon.

Oh, I also vote for 4 doors instead of 2. To me it's just more practical and the performance is the same. When you first go out to dinner with a couple and want to take the new Bimmmer and your friend's wife has to clambour into the back seat in a skirt and heels you'll wish you had the 4 door.
