Exclamation Speed Traps Listed

I'm setting this as my homepage.

http://www.speedtrapped.com/state/wa...peed-traps.cfm

I haven't been stung lately, but the more we all cooperate, the better our odds, and the worse the WaSPs' odds.

I wish I knew exactly where I came around the corner on Wednesday afternoon and got shot with a laser. It seemed like a good spot; probably a regular speed trap in the general Mount Vernon area.

I didn't get a ticket. I was doing ~75 and the posted limit is 60 in that area. The deflectors worked just like they are supposed to. The cop didn't even look twice after I slowed down and went past him. He was already onto gunning more people as they came around the corner.

I've got the Escort SR7 + Shifters. The Blinder X-treme are supposedly better stand alone shifters but I wanted an all-in-one package.

I posted a thread over HERE with some pictures of the install.

You can get that package on Ebay (new, unopened) fairly consistently for about $600. I got mine from a place in Langley, BC. Their "buy it now" price was $620 so I "bought it now". The install was really easy and I'd gladly help anyone that wanted to do the same. It's just time consuming because the front and rear bumpers need to be removed to route wires and mount stuff. I also took apart the entire center console (again) to route the wire from the rear shifter. The little interface module that everything plugs into is sitting under the stereo head unit.

It works so well that I'm fully planning on buying/installing one in my truck too. The last two speeding tickets I got were in my truck and they both would have been easily avoided if I had a radar detector.

After jumping over to the other thread I remembered your posting it before. Now, we just need these things to have SiRFIII GPS chips and WiFi circuits so they can automatically report radar locations to a central internet service. Then a proper sports car navigation system would download data while the car is in the garage and provide alerts as you approach radar hot spots. Hell if they report exact frequency, it would even allow a service like that to filter out non police radar sources.

I think speed traps are immoral/unethical. Seriously...don't get me started on tickets...Taxation via Citation is what it is. Makes the roads MORE dangerous, IMO...blah...I need to leave this thread! lol

Thanks for the link, KD

i put mine in that i got last week. Me and 4 other people, unrelated, all pulled over. they were giving everyone 5mph over speed limit tickets. A sort of warning, no point 100 bucks.

The new cobra radar actually links to GPS and checks a database of speed traps and alerts you to possible traps like these.

Yup, The WSP should just rename them selves the W-STC (Speed Tax Collectors). If they really gave a damn about safety they'd drive around with lights on top of black and whites so everyone saw them and slowed down. Unmarked cars are revenue machines only.

I made these awhile ago...

Darin, it's really scary when you and I agree on something even vaguely social/political. But I agree that revenue collection should not be a significant part of the job description of the constabulary. In my opinion, it puts us and those paid to protect us at odds, and also there are better ways to use trained police officers than randomly writing speeding tickets.

For all of you that hate the "speeding kills" mentality and the speed=revenue system, please join the National Motorist's Association (NMA). They're the ones that got the 55 MPH federal limit removed years ago and continue to lobby for logical speed limits and other traffic laws.

They'll also pay for one ticket a year as long as you fight it in court.

Also, be glad you don't live in Ohio. I spent years there, and WA is like a speed trap barren wasteland compared to OH, where speeds change from 45 to 25 every time you enter a new township and the mayor is the judge.
