the other motor and carbon fiber trim

dondo 11-04-2010 01:47 PM

^ that's what i saw

Nemesis8 11-04-2010 01:53 PM

yea, the motor :naughty:

Thinking about building an FI block next...

If I try and boost my Iannetti ceramics, Rick E and Paul will most likely flog me if I cannot get it tuned properly. Not sure how much boost the ceramics can take, maybe 5 PSI? So, that motor on the stand is my original block that will get ported and doweled together for turbo boost.

Nemesis: what are you monitoring on those gauges?
I assume the one on the left is AFR?

NgoRX8 11-04-2010 05:01 PM

looks like fuel pressure. good choice.

now start on that FI build please!! :)

Nemesis8 11-04-2010 05:24 PM

haha - fuel pressure is correct. You guessed the other one.

Man cannot live too long without booooosssttt

TeamRX8 11-11-2010 08:54 PM

Mazda Motorsports rates the Iannetti seals for a higher boost pressure than you will ever run in a Renesis. It's all in the quality of the tune and supporting components.

That is a weird flapping sound. Did you listen with a stethoscope to see if you can narrow it down?

Nemesis8 12-05-2010 11:21 PM

Stethoscope says water pump. I wonder if the sound resonated in the hard firewall water pipe?

Nemesis8 12-05-2010 11:31 PM

The first seconds the sound changes completely.

it really reminds me of a spark jump, but that would have to be a huge jump to make that much noise..

beers

Nemesis8 12-06-2010 08:13 AM

BHR Ignition with 6000 miles on it, and brand new plugs for the dyno day, so even though it may sound similar, it is not a spark jump. My money is the water pump, and tonight I will drop the drive belt again to find out. Thanks for looking man!

How about 9 PSI, is that a safe bet? :dunno:

Nemesis8 12-07-2010 06:51 PM

No belt - no sound

dondo 12-07-2010 07:16 PM

hey thats what i said!

pdxhak 12-07-2010 07:18 PM

That's interesting.

Nemesis8 12-07-2010 09:19 PM

dang, this car never ceases to amaze me - I'm always working on it lately....

dondo 12-07-2010 09:29 PM

we're all working on our cars a lot these days.. new motors, weird issues, maintenance, etc..

the big problem for a street car is there's no guaranteeing the quality of pump gas

Nemesis8 12-08-2010 11:04 AM

Paul is taking care of me on the water pump. Great company that Mazmart!

As soon as I have it installed, I am off to another dyno, with a catless midpipe. :)

Pump gas sucks - that may have been Denny's downfall also. Tune for 87 even though the pump says 91....

dondo 12-08-2010 01:22 PM

or spray?

Nemesis8 12-09-2010 06:08 PM
