Mike and I are still talking about going to the afternoon session... we'll see, I didn't pre-reg so there may not be space.

Damn, I didn't get to prereg for tomorrow... it closed Friday. BSCC is a lot more expensive if you don't pre-reg, $35 per half instead of $25

Man, I wanted to go so bad. I'm having money issues at the moment that I was expecting to have fixed already but noooo... Stupid military savings deposit program..

My whining aside, did anyone get pics?

Yes! Coming soon... I'll post all the Porsche day ones in a different thread... I forgot my camera though I really wish I'd been able to take video of the cars spinning on the VHT. At one point a Fiero managed to spin 4 complete rotations!

Changed my mind, most of the pics I took ended up being of other cars since Matt's brother Nick was there with a nice SLR taking pics of Matt. Here's everything I have: http://pics.dpsubs.org/PNW_Skills_9-5-2009/

Highlights:

Actually, we had a hard time keeping the slalom even since the cones weren't chalked, so a lot of people hit cones.

This guy... well, this is a TDI and he went ***** out, leaving giant plumes of brown exhaust everywhere he went

He eventually got it right though

Nice! Is it me, or does the Porsche have a ding on it's rear fender?

Yah it was Mike, though the course was typical Porsche silliness. I took Hansen's friend from work for a ride... it made him sad. He drove a late 90's/early 2000's 911 and he got out and said "Your car is so much faster than mine!".

Man... this was a fun but crazy weekend. So I went to BSCC's AutoX today and... blew away the reflector for the timing lights with my 2nd run by spinning into the finish. $100 fine on the spot I now have a big 'ole cone mark on my passenger door left by one of the tall cones they stuck by the finish lights. I wasn't alone though, Hollywood Bob spun the exact same way I did in the dry and then Fred, with the crazy older blue mustang spun way out into the grass on his 2nd run of the morning.

The course was wet when I did it and there was as high speed wiggle right by the finish. The back end kicked out a little to the left as I cut back right to line up for the finish so I pulled it back in and got on the gas... only to have the rear shoot out to the right and put me completely sideways going into the finish. My only cone of that run too! Gavin was in the car for that one... he's usually my good luck charm too!

Anyways, by my afternoon runs the course was dry and it was incredibly fast and a ton of fun. Something just clicked and the afternoon went perfect... My times started a full 9 seconds faster than my wet time in the morning and then I improved incrementally by another second. By the end, I'd gone from a 65.5 to a 54.6. The car felt really, really good. This was the first dry event at Bremerton post the coilovers and man... I'm seriously considering sitting on these sway bars for a while because I'm so happy with the way the car feels.

My day ended on a really high note too. My last 2 runs, a 17 or 18 year old kid who'd come with his friend in his friend's 3000GT VR4 road along with me. They were novices, his first event and his buddy's second. They ended up being my fastest 2 recorded runs, a 54.6 dirty and a 54.7 clean. He got out after that first run and went nuts, he couldn't believe how much faster I was than his buddy in the VR4 doing high 60's... it was a cool feeling, it reminded me a lot of the first ride I got in an instructor's Evo at that first AutoX school.

Tomorrow, I'm going to spend an hour at a Brown Bear getting the cone marks out of my doors but tonight, I'm on top of the world That 54.6? Beat both Michelle and Chris Miller, and they designed the course!

Yah, that part was a real bummer. The Civic Si behind me thanked me for the rerun though Made for a very expensive day... I considered stopping but decided f that, now my runs cost $135 instead of $35, damn straight I'm doing all 5. I'm really glad I wasn't alone though, if I'd been the only one to hit them all day it would've been the worst...

Oh, so Mike, the guy with the Rotus? Died on course again, twice!

Daqng nick, sorry to hear about the 100 u had to drop. Great job on the runs. I had a blast when i rode with you as well.

My first time on the autox i thaught i would just push myself hard to see what happens, but next time i would really like to start fine tuning some of my skills and riding with you and some of the other instructors will really help speed up that process.

Sucks you couldnt get to ride with Nick's friend Zach. Holy smokes he was fast. I learned a lot by just watching him drive the car instead of where we were going.

Seriously! Riding with Zack completely changed how I take slaloms and in general made me a lot faster. He sent me an IM yesterday. I guess he went to two AutoX's this past weekend and got to do a run in someone's Turbo'ed Miata (he crushed their times) and then got to do 3 full runs in someone's C6 Z06... He beat that guy's times too... he said everyone had money on him spinning but instead he put down some ridiculous times. Zack is just plain inherantly fast

He wants to move out here... anyone know a shop that's hiring?
