Pinnacle Mazda (Renton) service

If you go there, I would recommend the service advisor Debbie (ask by name)

I had already done my own Royal Purple engine oil, M/T oil, and differential oil change a few days ago, and took my car in for the rest of my 30k service (they did pro-rate the service to reflect the work I did, and it saved me $200). I was very specific to Debbie that these services get skipped, and marked them down on their service guide. She then took this guide and went over it with the mechanic to make sure they did not do what I did not want them to do.

When they bill came back, it had 4 quarts of 5w-20 Quaker State on there. I was pretty upset, but debbie told me that charge gets put on their automatically and doesn't reflect what actually happened. Took it off the bill and sent me on my way. Here's where it gets interesting.

She calls me back the next day and said it was troubling her all that night because it seemed they (the mechanic) should have had the prescense of mind to take it off the bill. Went in to work the next day and grilled the mechanic. Turns out he DID give me an oil change. Realize at this point she could have just kept her mouth shut as many people would be tempted to do. I would not have noticed until the 3000 miles later when I poured out my oil and realized it wasn't purple (Royal Purple is actually purple in color). Instead she did the right thing and let me know about it and immediately offered to track down that specific motor oil and have it put back in free of charge. Stuff aint cheap either, at 7.50/qt compared to whatever rediculously low price they would actually pay for bulk Quaker State.

So not only did they do an oil change that they have to eat the price on, they also have to give me a much more expensive oil change for free. Needless to say the profit margin on that service probably suffered terribly. But I will go back. And I also recommend her to others.

No, that's one of the two cashiers you are thinking of. Debbie is a middle-aged woman w/ red hair who is new to Mazda.
