Hey How about a BBQ at the Beach??!!!

We can meet up near the 5 exit at around 11am, then head down towards Deception Pass and hopefully find parking to get out and take pics or stretch our legs, then head further down to stop at a beach and do some BBQing? It's about a 45min drive from the 5 to the beach. I think it would be fun. What do you guys think?

Hey Linda do you know any good place near exit 221 where everyone can meet up? I say meet up around 11?

The beach is a pretty small beach that has a park. There is always plenty of parking. There is a small pool there that people bring there kids to go swimming.

I don't own a grill but I'll see if I can obtain one from friends. Everyone has to bring something!! =)

At exit 221, there is a gas station just off the freeway on the east side of I-5, I think it's a Shell station.

I can bring a couple of salads (potato and something else) and plates and utensils.

I was refering more to having a passenger along to call out road changes. They come up to fast for a driver to keep track of during "sprited" driving.

OK, makes sense... I think it would also be a good idea to put a list of cell numbers together in case anyone gets lost or has a breakdown along the way.

No, I was assuming they would see the posts. Prolly a bad assumption...

I think we're missing Ducky, dmp, Revlis, and blakew15. I think there were also a couple other people who wanted to go, but couldn't make it. If I can figure out how to send a message to multiple people, I'll send a note...

The cell's are a great idea, along with 2-way radios. With everyone on the same channel, they're a heck of a lot easier and you don't have to wait for the other end to pick up. Plus, anyone who hears can respond.

Yeah, 2-ways would be best. I have a set I can bring, do you?

Lets confirm the meet up spot. Exit 221 at the Shells gas station. Linda, do you know if there is going to be enough parking space? Or should it be somwhere else?

Does anyone have a grill that they can bring, just in case I can't find one?

I'm going from memory cuz mostly I just drive by it, but I was thinking it is a large gas station, given where it is... I can double-check though, cuz I'm sure I'll be up that way soon to check on my boat... prolly the beginning of June. If anyone has another idea about a large meeting place in the meantime, let us know. The thing about starting in that area is that we can take the really twisty road to La Conner - the one where I see the car clubs all the time.

I have a small propane grill that's never been used - I can bring that. Depending on how many people show up or how much grilling we need to do, we might want 2 if they're small...?

I'll be picking up a small grill for my road kit between now and then so we'll be okay.

Cool, thanks kristopher! I was pretty sure it was a big one. And if it's busy, we could line up on the road next to it if we had to...
