Looking to move to Portland in a few months-ish
Hey everybody,
I've decided that I've had enough of Boise, I miss Portland too much. I just wanted to put out a little feeler and see how the job market and all that was in Portland, how much rent for a single apartment is, etc. I visited not long ago, labor day weekend actually (hooray for a random 8 with Idaho plates driving around Portland), and being back in town and remembering everything I miss of it made me decide to say "Screw it" and not wait to finish up my degree before I move...
What are some of the better places to look for jobs, while I'm sitting here in Boise? I know Boise has some sites like boiseidahojobs.com... online classified's, basically, but I don't know of a similar service based in Portland. Same question goes for housing. Would you just recommend rent.com, or is there something more specific to the PDX area?
I'd prefer to live in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area, but I'd really be fine in most of the Portland area. Thanks in advance for the responses

Craigslist is a good place to look, pretty much everything and everyone here is on it. Or portlandhelpwanted.com
The job market here is pretty average, not hot, not cold. What's your profession?
I recommend finishing your degree.
I'm a homeowner, so I have no idea what an apartment is, but probably about $8-900. A good way to do it is to find somebody with a house who wants a roommate. The apartments around here suck. Housing took a huge inflation over the last two years. A lot of people are trying to sell. You might be able to luck out and find a decent house to rent for a good price.

It's concentrated mostly for Portland and Seattle...but monster.com works too.
Apartment rent depends on where you want to live....could be $500, could be $1500. Craigslist is the best place to look for that.

Great info, I also want to move to Portland soon, I'm tired of living in the middle of nowhere. Are there any good driving roads near Portland? Cause if I'm more than 20min away from a good driving road I will go insane.
Out where I live (13 miles outside of Oregon City) it is country and a good selection of windy and hilly roads. A lot of them used to be old logging roads. There are plenty of fun places to drive if you look.
Meanwhile, I've been looking at prices of apartments lately. The average for a one bedroom seems to be about $650.
