Can't really help you out on the mounting. The only place i've had it done is Les Schwab. If they could do it i think they'd charge $50.

On another note i caved and bought a helmet. Should be here on friday

So how much was it? I was looking for an open faced one with a reasonable price and just couldn't find one.

Also, I got in!

$148 with free 2 day shipping. The only reason i got that price is because i ordered a Pyrotect open face and they were all out. So i got the Bell for $148 instead of $199. I actually didn't even see the Bell when i was shopping around and lets just say i'm kinda glad they were out of the Pyrotect

Try HelmetCity.com. They seem to have some legit deals and good customer service.

Yeah, I have the Pyrotect and it's fine but not great. I've got a wall full of full face helmets but none that are SA2005, so I bought the Pyrotect just to satisfy that requirement. Like I said, it's not bad but the Bell will definitely be better.

For those looking at expensive helmets I would suggest waiting until the next standard comes out (SA2010?). I have an $800 Bell Dominator that I picked up in 1999 but it's SA1995 so it's not even eligible for autocross anymore (which I happen to think is pretty funny). Last time I checked Simpson will recertify their helmets when new standards come out (if they qualify) but Bell will not. Just something to keep in mind so you don't spend a ton of cash on a helmet that will be obsolete in a couple of years because it doesn't have the latest sticker.

Sounds like the helmet I bought in May 2006 for autox'ing is out of standard. It says Snell and DOT on it, but it's not on the Snell SA2005 list

Edit: Dug around inside the padding and found a sticker: M2000. And I bought this from a local autocross club (!) that had an extra helmet - it was brand new.

Nope, M2000 is for motorcycles. I'm surprised they didn't check it the 2 times I autox'd. Damn, need a new one. I have an Arai full-face helmet for motorcycling, but it's really old.

I suspect full on track events they'll require the SA rating but I'm not planning on one of those for this summer so I'm not too worried, mine is M2005.

So Saturday is the skills day but Sunday, there's an Event in Bremerton, BSCC and then an Oregon SCCA event in Packwood. I really want to go to one of them after the school while everything is still fresh in my mind, but I'm not a huge fan of BSCC events... I'm pretty tempted to go the Packwood one. It may well be a different group of cars and it will most likely be a LOT smaller than the BSCC one's going to be.

you forgot the track day at bremerton on friday.

plus, if you stay at bremerton for sunday we can get our work assignment out of the way by setting up after the pca event and then can camp out on site.

Can't take Friday off... but that's tempting... idk, I'll have to think about it, I haven't pre-reg'ed for anything.

Yikes, it's a little farther than I remember. Google maps shows 1 hour 44 minutes from my house (Snohomish). I don't know what time I'll be through Tacoma so I'm probably better off just meeting at the event. Leaving at 5am sucks.

I got the front sway bar installed tonight. I have to install the rear and change all of my brake pads tomorrow night. Hopefully I get everything finished.

Well that was a blast. Skinless took a lot of pictures too and his should be much higher quality than mine (SLR vs. Point and shoot, no contest). I have a lot of videos too, but those will take a while to upload so they'll get their own post.

All of my pictures are here: http://pics.dpsubs.org/PNW_School/

Highlights:

Mike Spinning out:

Mike loading up coming into a wiggle of gates:

Can you tell I overcooked it?

Did better the next time but still not perfect, I got a bunch more tries though

Jeff going a bit wide...

A study in contrast, stock suspension vs. Tein Basics:

I have no idea where this picture was taken:

Yah...

Yup

Karl Colman's shop. He mounts and balances tires for ~$55 for all 4 and he's a national champion autoX'er so he has some geat experience with race tires.

Ok, now mine are done. The reason there's so much squealing in the beginning is the black crap on the track for the dragsters.
