WA June 13 (Sat) PCA skills day - Who's In?

I'm doing the June 13th PCA Skills Day at Bremerton, albeit in my other car. I've done them before and they are a lot of fun even if you have some track experience. It's a great deal for only $55 with Lunch included. Once you do one of these events, you can go and do a full, high speed track day with a Porsche or BMW instructor at Pacific Raceways.

Come drive that RX-8 like it was meant to be driven.

Who else is in?

Oregon region has an SCCA event in Packwood that day but given the choice of racing in another region and this school I'd take the school... I'll shoot them an email and see if there's any way to get in but I think Chris mentioned they were full (he's going, I think). I'll see what they say.

The May one is full. As of yesterday, the June one only had about 11 registrants out of 30-ish max.

Dude!

I'm totally already signed up for this and i didn't think any one else would be there because it's a Porsche event.

Sweet.

What's your "other car" edit: Lotus? i guess i could have just read your signature

I've got a buddy in a WRX and one in a BMW sedan coming as well. It's usually well less than 50% Porsche.

I'm pretty rusty and this sounds like a great refresher. I looked at the sign-up page and it says:

# Must be a member of PCA, Alfa, Audi, BMW, Corvette, Ferarri, Mini, PDC or Viper car club
# Members may register one guest per event

I'm not currently a member of any of these clubs. Do they adhere to these rules, or is there a member here who can take a guest?

I sent a mail yesterday to ask about that, we'll see what I get back.

You do not need to be a club member to do these events. You do if you move up to the track days.

i heard differently from the event coordinator. He's the guy that ended up sponsoring me (Robert Durff).

Might want to double check.

Weird, I swear I asked a long time ago and they said they didn't. I sure wasn't a member the first time I went.

I just found out that a friend of mine who is a PCA member is also attending, so I just signed up using him as my sponsor. I hope the rest of you are able to get signed up as well.

dsmdriver, did you already get signed up? If not, maybe they'll allow it because you have previous experience with them? Or are you a member of one of the other clubs?

I'm a BMWCCA member now, so it's not an issue for me. I'm already signed up. I'd sponsor someone if needed, but I'm already taking a friend.

Don't forget that this allows you to move on and do the BMW and PCA high-speed track days at Pacific Raceways, so check out the calendar and plan for some of those. It's a great way to spend the rest of the summer, and it's always nice to hear someone say "Dude, an RX-8 should not be able to pass a 350Z."

After I got registered as "sponsored" by a PCA member, Robert e-mailed me back and confirmed that that's how I needed to register. He said he was super swamped, so I'm not sure when he's going to get back to e-mails. In any case it looks like you do need somebody to sponsor you. I believe it has to be a PCA member, but maybe they'll allow somebody from the other clubs they allow to be a sponsor? If that's the case maybe dsmdriver could sponsor somebody. Hopefully a few more of you will be able to get registered.

Dsmdriver, would there be any reason to bring track tires for this? It seems like overkill for most of the stuff but it looks like they usually leave an open session at the end of the day. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the hassle of having them mounted before then.

Dondo and Anijo, I hope some spots open up so you can both make it. Have you heard anything?

Cool, maybe I'll bring them. My AP sways showed up today so I need to find time to install those, swap my brake pads, and bleed my brakes before Saturday. Should be ready after that. I probably don't have time to install my springs, but those can wait.

I tried to get my track tires mounted last night but the shop I went to couldn't do them with their machine because of the low profile stiff sidewalls on the v710's. Anybody have a recommendation for cheap tire mounting?
