Been at home taking care of my daughter (8 weeks old on friday)... took a LOA from work for 2 months so I could be with her... It has been beautiful driving weather so I have been taking her out so she can learn to appreciate a car ride (I don't think it's possible to do that in my wife's Forester :P ). It looks like the weather is supposed to hold for a couple of days so get out and enjoy it, before the gray comes back

Saving for a house is pointless.... odds are you won't be able to put down enough to make a significant dent in your payments, and while you are saving interest rates are rising thus negating any difference. Also don't forget about the annual tax savings that home ownership provides

Hardly... on my second house now, put no money down on the first and walked with ~85000 profit after three years, just saying that it would take (me at least) far to long to save anything that will make any meaningful impact on your monthly mortgage savings or buying power. While I could have waited for the money to SLOWLY accumulate in my savings account. In my case it was a far better investment to live in a house that certainly wasn't in the best neighborhood to make the profit that I did. IMHO it's better to sacrafice in the begining in order to get what you want later. Of course this is just me... keep saving and maybe you will end up far ahead of me, you never know.
