Heading out tomorrow - Thank you NW RX8'ers.
Hey folks -
I know I haven't been very active with the group in some time. As I'm preparing to head out to Alabama, I wanted to take a few minutes and thank you all for being GREAT FOLK. There's been nobody we've met - mary and I - who has been less than great to talk with, drive with, or drink with.
My plan is to depart sometime EARLY tomorrow morning, stopping in Moses Lake, WA for fuel, then Ceour D' Alene for lunch/fuel. My first day driving will end in Butte, Montana sometime in the afternoon. I plan on taking it easy. Every time I see a 'scenic view' sign, I'll stop and take it. I'll cruise along in the right lane trying to take in all of this beautiful state I can.
Tuesday I'll visit Wyoming, and Devils Tower. Yes, I'm going to try and find a big lump of mashed potatoes to carve and bring with me.
Wednesday has me in South Dakota, and a stop at Mt Rushmore.
Thursday I'll visit the St Louis Arch and spend the night in Metropolis, IL.
Friday I'll head out, making my way through Nashville, Huntsville, and down to Fort Rucker, AL area.
It's about 2900 miles for me - EASILY the longest road trip I've done. I'm VERY Happy to be making the trip in my RX8. Every time I walk out to the car I think to myself "Thank GOD I didn't trade this thing in..."

Anywho - I'll be writing a blog with pics from the trip and thoughts about my day, graciously hosted by a friend and his Poitical site. Please stop in and check on my progress; leave a note now and then, too!

Best Regards and thank you all for your companionship and occasional pep-talks and therapy as I've dealt with the pluses and minuses of this wonderful car.
Darin
P.S. When I get there and settled, I'll post up here and give y'all a link to a little 'production' I'm doing en route.
P.P.S. - I'm flying back 21 June to help with packing our house and to bring mary and the kids back to AL on 1 July. I'd LOVE to take an evening and meet anyone for beers, if possible!

Darin - I'm SO glad you said you'd like to meet for beers with us one last time
, as yesterday I realized you'd be leaving soon and I was bummed that we wouldn't get to see you guys again. I'll save all the mushy stuff for the get together
. Say Hi to Mary and the kids, and I'll see you guys at the end of June

Best of luck to you Darin! It was great knowing you and thanks for organizing the dyno days and install days etc.
Jen and I give our best to you and your family as you start the next chapter in AL!
Definitely let's plan on meeting when you get back in to town on the 21st. Let us know when you're coming and what night you're available to get together.

Sheesh, you've been online for a whole 5 minutes and no new blog entry yet. What a slacker!
Glad to see you're enjoying yourself and taking your time (relatiely, any way). Today should have been an excellent one.

Best of luck with everything, Darin. It was great to meet you guys on the few drives that I've actually attended!
edit: and yes, sleeping alone does suck. I hate nights when I'm not with Leilani. Here's to a safe rest of your journey.
