Well, Jodie Fordahl is on the board, and being friends with the Fordahls sounds like a pretty awesome plan

They setup just about every full on race car in this area. The Red 944 we keep seeing at events, the MS Sponsored 911 GT3 Cup car, and Jodie drives that bonkers 924 or 914 or w/e that's on their site. Also, Greg has been recommended by multiple people as THE person to get an alignment and corner balance from once I get coilovers.

Also, they sponsor the our SCCA region, it's their name on their timing vehicle.

Good news! So, basically, anyone interested in helping to run an event should show up to the board meeting August 4th. A couple members of the board replied and basically said this:

Follow the event chair around on Sunday, come to the board meeting and we/they can talk about setting up more practices for BSCC where we run the event. Everyone who wants to go will need a BSCC membership and BSCC needs to make ~$600 off the event for it to balance out their cost. So with 10 people that's $60/person. They also said every Monday from now until October is open at Bremerton, so nothing really stops us. We need 2 people to co-chair the event and whoever wants to be able to do so should come to the board meeting August 4th.

It's in the evening on August 4th, 9pm: http://bscc.net/component/option,com...iew/extid,114/

The more I think about it, the more sense partnering up with BSCC makes. If we get a lot of people going from here, we can start poking RX-7 club guys. If we can get 50 people generally interested, we can form a Northwest Rotary club or something and buy our own insurance next summer so we can do weekend events in Shelton.

The only downside of going the BSCC route is we most likely won't be able to do lapping, just AutoX. They do lapping days, but their normal insurance doesn't cover passing, they have to get special insurance for those days (and technically we would need to as well, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there).

$1500, emailed them back to find out the event fee. $1500 comes with a few caveats:

- No Passing
- 70mph max (less concerned about this one)

So if we're going to do lapping, the insurance is going to be more. How much more, I'm not sure yet. I'll read through the other policy option when I get home tonight.

Oh, I thought you wanted the insurance quote.

For BSCC to break even on a week day, it's $600 total, which is about $200 less than it would be for us by ourselves.

We can ask them on the 4th, but I don't want to push our luck. Look at this from their perspective, we're a couple of novices asking them to let us thrash our cars around on their insurance with their equipment under their name (i.e. if one of us roars down the entry road and a complaint gets filed, it's in their club's name).

I heard back from K&K and shot them back a few more questions for some firmer numbers. Whether lapping will be possible or not is probably going to hinge on whether we can run a successful autox first. Assuming the 4th goes well, what day of Monday-Thursday works for people best?

Well, I heard back from K&K again. Lapping days are a LOT more expensive. I have much firmer numbers for AutoX days now too.

For <50 people:
  • It's $282/day for an AutoX event, with a $1500 premium.
  • It's $500/day for lapping, with a higher premium. Lapping days require accident insurance
What's interesting though is per the K&K rep, most places require accident insurance for lapping days... meaning in theory if you crash while lapping you can make a claim against the club. I'm going to ask for more clarification on that one, but that's kind of cool.

So TJ just sent out a mass mail, they're trying to do a gargantuan course at the Member day on August 7th, using the whole runway and taxiway! 2.1 mile long autox course...

Thanks for the respond, and I looked at the link you sent me and I checked out TJs link too and it looks like it's only $40 if you sign up for the whole day. So I believe I'll be there the whole day if I can get it off work, which I should be able to do.

I've always wanted a longer autox. I've seen some long ones in other parts of the country through youtube, and I always wished to be able to do that, well we just might get that chance!!!
