Colors, Interior, Exterior. Why did you choose what you chose?

What do the colors of your car mean to you? Do they reflect who you are, or are they just what was on the lot that didn't make you hurl?

I just spent a week solid agonizing over the colors for a new car. Why? What possible difference does it make? Hell I am getting ready to possibly wait unitl August because I do not want a White one with a Red N Black Leather Interior.

I posted up a Poll, asking for votes and that is how my color choice got made.

Kristopher D wanted me to take a meditative journey and let the colors present themselves. Unfortunetly I was unable to quite my mind enough to do so.

Feel the road humming gently under the tires, see it undulate and slide beneath you. Hear the wind as it slips by the windows. Now, while in this blissful state of nirvana, look a little closer. What color is the hood? What does the dash look like? Now you know what your soul wants.

I'm a red car person, big time. But when I run this exercise with your BMW, I actually get quite the surprising result. Once you've placed your order, I'll let you know what I came up with, but not until you've asked your spirit what it wants. You've done all the logical bits. Evaluating multiple cars, considering your requirements, options, etc. The last bit is purely emotional, and unless you make the decision on purely emotional grounds, it'll be a bad one. Even if, by some miracle, your logical mind makes the same choice your emotional mind would have, it'll still be the wrong one, 'cause you wont know you made the emotional choice.

So, consider the driving experience. Drive the car in your mind, feeling, seeing, hearing, and even smelling everything about caressing the road with your beautiful new machine. And when you're well and deep into the exercise, then you'll become aware of your true desires. That's the right choice.

If anyone's missing a soap box, I think I found it. Your welcome to retrieve it any time.

But I gotta Know, What color did you come up with Kristopher?

Yeah, no matter how much time I spend trying to quiet the brain on this one, all it does is rifle through just about every color option BMW Has available.

When I finalized everything Friday, just before we went in to hammer out the deal I had them pull both of the colors I was looking at side by side outside in the rain so I could get a good look at em'. As soon as the Blue Pulled up next to the Arctic Metallic I knew that was the one. At least this time.

Next time I'll prolly get the Black.

where you by chance in the Bellevue area today? If so I saw you twice, the second time I was the WB RX-8 that pulled out of the left lane on I-90 to let you blow past at Warp 2. If that was not you, then there is another Montego Blue w/ Black interior out there. That color is simply off the hook hot. It is what Stormy Blue Mica wishes it could be.

*Sigh* Wish it was me... Nope, I'll be waiting for prolly about 4 months or so, at the worst. There was a 335i Coupe in Bellevue for sale though that was Blue over Black.

If it was me I woulda Flashed and Waved... Something the typical BMW driver doesn't seem want to do.

Interesting attitude over at the BMW Forums... Not all bad, but NOT all good either.

Well I actually watch my rearview when I'm *temporarily* in the left lane (going fast) so I gotta outta the way before he had the chance. I've had people around here get super pissed at my for flashing the brights on them (apparently they didn't get the memo), so I myself have dropped that habit in this area cuz I don't want to get shot or rammed by a delivery truck like almost happened one memorable time.

Remeber kids, METH IS BAD.

okay sorry to wander. It might have been that same car. Check if the dealer can do an exchange w/ a California dealer. Might cost you a little (haggle like hell!) but you might shave off a few months. Worked for my parents.

I came up with the Silver (arctic I guess) with the charcoal (or whatever their calling it this week) interior. It was actually quite a shock, because I love a red car with red/black interior. I've always loved red. But the couple of times I've had the good fortune to ride in a BMW (haven't driven one, yet) it left me with a sense of quiet refinement draped over pure excitement. Now granted, I didn't consciously limit myself to your to color choices 'cause that would have made it impossible for me to free my mind, but given the pre-existing suggestion, I fully expected I'd come out with the blue.

The difference is entirely emotional. Goal # 1 is of course to avoid vomiting every time you look at your car. Goal # 2, however, is grin, giggle, stamp your feet like a little girl and turn one complete circle every time you think about the car. If you're a little too macho for that, you at least want to smile VERY contentedly.

Gotcha, I think I am pretty giggly with the Blue and Black, though I may change the seats to the Saddle Brown Leather. The interior is still black it just has Brown leather seats and door Panels...

I dunno though, I want the Brown Panels cause it ads a little interest to an otherwise boring Brown interior. But I am not sure about it.

Doesn't cost anymore than the all black, it just sets off the interior a bit.
