Clear Corner? Don't use clear bulbs..
Clear Corner? Don't use clear bulbs..
I'm what we called, in the Army, a "Barracks Lawyer"...
Thus, I found this nugget:
I was hoping for white lights, as is legal in CA...however, Washington 'The Nanny State', doesn't allow for it.
Thus, I found this nugget:
RCW 46.37.100
Color of clearance lamps, side marker lamps, back-up lamps, and reflectors.
(1) Front clearance lamps and those marker lamps and reflectors mounted on the front or on the side near the front of a vehicle shall display or reflect an amber color.

yeah its pretty much the same law anywhere u go. i was stationed out in england and it was the same thing, no white turn signal bulbs. its more of a safety thing in the end. if someone has their headlights on and cannot see someone turning due to a white turn bulb, it could turn into anything.

Since the corner markers are reflectors when not lit, it could be reasoned that replacing them with clear markers could be illegal. Down here in Salem I was pulled over in the day time and given a "fix-it" written warning when I put them on my Eclipse. I had amber bulbs but the officer said they had to reflect amber. I'll have to see if I can find the warning and see which Oregon statute it references.

Display OR reflect...not display AND reflect...either or. The markers are not reflectors, frankly...it's just plastic lens. By that definition, the entire car 'reflects' silver (in my case) light back to my eye.
The corners are reflectors...it's jus that most people are poping the refelctors out of the clears when they order them. I still want them...I doubt we'd get pulled over for it...especially if we get the stealth bulbs and show the cop that they light up amber.
seems a shame to have to compromise....I havent recieved a second glance from the po-po since I got the car. My front plate was off the moment I got home. The rice rockets in the area tell me the police here love to get you for stuff like that but maybe I dont look ricey enough.....Drove my 94 MX-6 around with no front plate, clear bulbs in the corners and no third brake light (romoved spoiler) for years with no police attention....bottom line...fixit tickets are a small price to pay for style...

marker light and amber reflex side reflector.
If you are replacing a stock or original equipment manufacturers lens with
an after-market product, make sure the after-market product meets the
standard and has the side reflex reflector that the original did, if it had
one."
I too am using clear corners with stealth amber bulbs. I always drive with my lights on so am hoping I get away with it.
Well, I guess I'm about to be breaking the law, here in Eugene Oregon.
The real reason I'm here though, is to ask how difficult it is to remove and replace these lights. As I've seen, the head and taillights are a bit of a pain to fix(when fogged from the inside), does the same go for the marker lights or is it simpler to replace these?
