Who wants to go? BSCC event @ Bremerton on Labor Day.

So far I'm going, Brad's going, and Scott talked about maybe wanting to go.

I'm gonna try to go to this, but this is the first time I've done any AutoX so I have to register and sign up for everything today. Hopefully, I'll see you guys there! I've really really really wanted to do this ever since my dorm roommate did it over the school year.

Nick wants the cold hard cash in hand so that he can wait for Brad to find an FD and then buy it out from underneath him.

Aside from the buying out from under Brad part...

maybe.

I've flip flopped on this like 10 times in the last week. We'll see.

Hope to see you there, it's a lot of fun and BSCC is a great club for Novices They threw me out of Novice on my last event that I was supposed to be able to run Novice on, and Brad, well, I don't think they ever let him IN to Novice, but it's a fun group of people.

Alright, today I'm gonna give the car an oil change and hopefully install those radiator fan switches. I'm all signed up for the novice PM runs since I wanted to run with the sedans :D I know they have rental helmets there, but I had a quick question.

They say that you need numbering on the side of your car, but they say for the novice runs they just give out numbers there. Do I have to make some magnetic numbers so when i get there I can just stick on whichever number they give me?

You can use painters tape and you can put it on the side (back) window

Man, well, my tire exploded on the way there. Thanks a ton Leon for taking a wheel off your car and bringing it to me

I'll post a picture when I get home tonight... I really don't know what happened this time. Last time I definitely hit something but this time it's less clear. Leon theorized that it could've been under inflated and the combination of stiff, short sidewalls and no TPMS sensors kept me from noticing. I would've noticed when I got there when I went to check tire pressures but during day to day driving I don't check them very often. It sounded like I hit something... but I couldn't really find evidence of something that went all the way through. I'm really worried about damage to the rim this time though, as the sidewall separated from the rest of the tire. I'll take it to Discount Tire at some point this week and see what they say. For now, I'm switching back to the stock wheels and all seasons.

As an aside, this happened just past the Federal Way speed trap. While waiting first for a tow truck and then for Leon once he called back we watched them pull someone over about every 2 minutes. That place is a money printing machine!

Underinflation would elevate tire temps resulting in the tire breaking down and failing.

Yah... I don't know. I took a good look at the tire once I got home. There's a point on it where a nail or tack could previously have been inserted and leaking, but by the time I got to the side of the road the sidewall was separated.

That section of I-5 is so rough that I didn't notice what was going on right away. First, I heard a thunk that sounded different from the rest of the bumps. I had 3 passengers + stuff in the car so in general it had been feeling different from the weight. I turned the wheel gently back and forth to see if the rear end felt ok and it felt wrong, so I started checking traffic to get over to the shoulder to take a look.

The cops from the speed trap had 3 cars pulled over in close proximity so I was planning on stopping right after them when suddenly there was a much louder pop which I'm assuming is when the sidewall came off. I immediately got over and stopped. When I did, I could smell burning tire and smoke floated forward on that side of the car.

This all took no more than 1/2 a mile.
