Arrow 2 December Drives

December Drives

The-Winding-Road is hosting 2 more drives in December.

Sports Car Formal II. That's right. We had so much fun with our rolling formal holiday party last year, we're doing it again. Get out your suite, tux, or evening gown and hit the road with us. We'll meet at Cottage Lake Park in Woodinville and head out from there. Details and event registration are available at http://www.the-winding-road.com/modu...ent.php?eid=31.

For the Night Owls amongst us, there's The Drive Before Christmas on Dec 8th. We'll be meeting in Renton (I don't have the exact location yet) and hitting a few of the more impressive light displays, which should be getting turned on this weekend. We'll link the Christmas lights together with some entertaining roads for an evening of holiday fun, and finish the evening in Brier. For more info, a map, and to sign up, please visit http://www.the-winding-road.com/modu...ent.php?eid=30.

Take your pic, but be sure to take a break from the holiday stress and join us for a drive.

Ack!!

I can't do the formal drive on the 16th... My family is doing Christmas dinner early, which includes the 4 Nov/Dec birthdays for me and my siblings. So, sorry guys, I'm choosing birthday presents over twisties this time

But Kristopher and Shaun (and anyone else), I'm off work between Dec 14th and Jan 6th... If you want to do a spontaneous drive during that time, I'm up for it!

Oh yeah... Kristopher - FYI - I'm not doing the night drives because my eyesight is not that good in the dark and I don't want to endanger anyone or myself by flying around on roads I can't see

I'm going to try to do the formal (depends on my work schedule, which has been more than a little crazy lately) with hopes of dragging Robbie along, although I'm not holding my breath. He doesn't like the way everyone drives.

Good question about riding shotgun... hmmmm... I guess it would depend on who is driving and how well I trust their driving ability. The only time I rode shotgun was with Revlis in his new white 335i, the first time we drove to the Pacific Beach - I think that was the first drive you made with us.... Revlis was the one who taught me how to drive my 8, and given his experience (bikes, cars, driving schools, etc), I trust him a lot. That's why it didn't bother me when we passed everyone doing 140 that day

I kick it back a notch or two for the Night Owl Drives. For the most part I pick easier roads and take them easier. This month it'll be even easier. The plan is to connect a few of the better light displays with some entertaining roads.

Early Christmas dinner? Sheeesh. No respect for calendars. I totally understand on both the family thing and the nights. If I hadn't received so many requests, I wouldn't have started the night drives, and if people weren't showing up, I wouldn't keep doing them. I go out and play at night on occasion, but I much prefer daylight.

Kris, I hope you didn't take my comments about the night drives as a criticism. My night vision is really bad - sometimes I scare myself even driving short distances. And I try not to drive on the freeway at night because with my windows tinted, it makes it even more difficult for me to see, especially when I move into a right lane. I've almost gotten into 2 accidents because I couldn't see there was a car there - yikes! I know you take safety seriously, so no worries!

Nah, didn't take it personally. Just relating the facts. I do the night drives 'cause people want 'em. Otherwise, I could do without the stress of trying to watch a dark road for turns, animals, and other cars, while simultaneous watching my mirror for headlights to drop off, and still trying to keep an entertaining pace.

Just a reminder, folks, I use the list at the winding road to determine how many route maps to print and make reservations at restaurants, so if you're coming, please sign up over there. You're welcome to come either way, it just makes it easier to manage these runs.

Unless something changes, I'm out for the formal. Too much stuff going on at home. My mom is recovering from cardiac surgery recently and I've been having to stick closer to home to keep an eye on her (stepdad out of town on business) and then a few days ago my bunny died, so just too much stuff to get away right now.

Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear about your mom and your bunny Tiff... Yes, please take good care of your mom and yourself. If I don't talk to you before the holidays, I hope you have a good one, despite the hard times.

Hey, do you need your Santa hat again?

Thanks.

I have the Santa hat saved at home and have been meaning to change it, but haven't gotten to it yet. Since I'm at work, for some reason the attachments never work. Don't know why. I'll have to try to remember to do it tomorrow.

Within the next week probably, I'm supposed to be getting two new baby bunnies, a male and a female. Not sure what type exactly. Looking at more Netherland Dwarfs and also Holland Lops. Would ideally want a Holland/Netherland mix because they would end up extra fluffy with "helicopter" ears that stick pretty much straight out to the side. We are waiting on two of the local pet stores that usually have a decent bunny selection to get more in today and tomorrow so my mom can pick out the little fuzzies.

Oh cute! That would be a good combo for sure. Netherland's are uber cute though. I used to have a Rex - her name was Cinnamon Bun.

I thought of you the other day... In a catalog I saw a similar thing like the bunny ears and nose for your 8, but it was antlers and a red nose. Not sure if you'd put it on your car though!!

Got two new bunnies today! A male Holland lop, gray and white mottled. He is so extremely fuzzy and puffy and has short ears that stick straight out to the side. He hasn't been named yet. Also got a Netherland dwarf female, all white with a gray tail. My mom named her Sweetie. Basically, she was trying to find a female that looked like Bunny Girl, who was all white with pink eyes, but had to settle for nearly identical with the gray tail and all. I haven't seen the girl yet, but I picked out the boy on my way to work today and was trying desperately to convince my mom to buy him when I had to leave. At that time she was brushing him (he had wood chips and hay and stuff all stuck in his fur since he had just arrived in the store and hadn't been cleaned up yet) and playing with him in the animal socializing booth. She got him. Of course, now I have to brush him when I get home tonight and will have quite regular brushing duties with his "high maintenance" fur.

With no registered participants, I'm forced to cancel this evening's "The Drive Before Christmas." Registration, for the Sports Car Formal is still open. This is a great opportunity to take a break from the stress of the holidays and have bit of tire squealing fun.
