There are also probably quite a few of us here that laugh at huge HP cars, since they are the ones that are typically the slowest and worst mannered on the track...
But again, just a difference in perspective of what type of racing we end up doing. The 8 is not, and never will be, a drag car, just like your preference is for cars that are not, and never will be, road course track cars.

It doesn't really matter, as noted in the other thread
Your goals and standards will be different from ours, and we could probably argue it till we are blue in the face and we will still have our own opinions.
Typically though, DD means livable on the street, in poor weather as well as good weather, not exhausting to drive, passes local emissions and safety regs, doesn't **** people off that you drive by, etc... It's not a numeric thing, and typically most modded cars easily blast out of DD range. My MSM is my DD, but it is NOT "a DD" because it IS exhausting to drive and there are an increasing range of weather conditions that I really shouldn't have it on the road in.
It's a matter of perspective though, weather is less of a factor in San Diego than it is in New England, clutch force is less of an issue in Kansas than it is in NYC, etc...
Just like it's a matter of perspective on what qualifies as "handles good". No one here will agree with you on the G8 or Mustang Saleen "handling good", because our perspective starts at such a higher standard of handling than those cars have.
Everyone has their own goals and standards though, and as long as you know them and pursue them, good for you. I always say that it's a good thing we are all different.
Very true. We live in las vegas so there's no real weather here, other than unbearably hot. So, it kind of works in our favor.

I'm open to any suggestions btw on my build. It's out of my normal "scene" obviously. Not that I'm uncapable of building it.

But I don't imagine that is your goal.

I'm not sure yet if I want to build it into what I would like, or if I want to build it then sell it. What would you guys want in the rx8 if I built it into something you would want to buy?

I like having fun toys, but I would also like the challenge of building something I usually dont, playing with it, then selling it to move onto something else. I'm not sure yet. I'm very indecisive. Either way, I have the ls2 & turbo already.

Doing this build to sell it to someone isn't a very good idea unless you are happy making a small amount of money from a large amount of money. As noted in the other thread, the only completed LS build did go up for sale almost immediately for $69k, and still has never sold. In fact, it still hasn't sold even though it's down to $39k, which is only $7,000 higher than the original MSRP of the stock R3 to begin with. 2010 Mazda RX-8 R3, $38,995 - Cars.com
If you do sell it at all, it will likely be for far less than the even the cost of parts, possibly less than the price of the RX-8 itself.
There is one swap that was sold successfully... like 10 times. It was a 5.0L swap that was never finished, each buyer thought they could finish it, and ended up tossing in the towel and re-selling it off to someone else that in turn thought they could finish it. I don't know where the car is now.
So if you do swap it and do a build, make sure it's for what you want, and that you are going to get out of it what you want out of it, even if it's just because you enjoy the challenge and the project. Just be prepared to lose lots of money on it if you are going into it thinking of selling it at the end.

Yes, if you swap in an REW or a 20b, you will likely be able to sell it easily. Still less than the cost of the swap, but less of a net loss than any piston swap will be. Cheaper to swap and a lot more marketability in the community.

Nothing worth posting. since I first posted, I had to get my race car put together for street car super nationals and I'm working 120hr weeks until xmas eve. I did manage to pull the motor out of the rx8 so everything is ready, just needs to be put in. I'm driving to Texas to trade race cars on xmas day, then by the 1st of the year I'm throwing the rx8 together. I'll post updates as I go along
