New Forum

This forum will be the new and ongoing home for those folks who are swapping out the rotary from the RX-8 for something else. These will be technical discussion and build threads. Over the next few days we will migrate existing threads here.

This is not the area for you to post your opposition to ripping the soul out of the car for these swaps. Shoot that flame somewhere else.

A completed LS1 Rx8 is an even greater work of fiction than Frankenstein

I agree with Brettus, Why do you purist's insist on vilifying a mans intent to improve his vehicle to suit himself ? Even the name of this section is a blatant flame.

Engine swap for what?

An RE for another RE maybe..?

Most are not what I would call simple 'Engine Swap' but an epic production..

BTW: Thanks Charlie for fulfilling the request.

Changing a Renesis for another Renesis is an engine swap. I would like to see a forum called RE-Power for people that change to a different rotary engine.

Its almost as if the title is made to make people doing an engine conversion/swap feel less superior and should be ashamed for doing so, and now they have a label of Frankenstein, my reaction was

You are not serious are you?..

It is a bit of a 'laugh' and the fact that these '''RX-8's'' are made up of bits of this and bits of that.
Not just one particular brand, either.

None of them are what I would call an easy swap.

So much has to be modified, cut out, fabricated and made, changed.

This is an RX-8 ROTARY FORUM, I have no objection to owners doing what they want to their property, and having them in one location is what was needed.

In the end the majority of members wanted this forum, perhaps someone can start a 'poll' on renaming this one from Frankenstein to what..?

https://www.rx8club.com/polls-70/fra...-rx-8s-244432/

They are not RX-8's..

Would probably make far more sense to call the forum "Engine Swaps" and have two subforums "Rotary" and "non-Rotary"

This way all engine swaps are in one place, not just so called Franken- swaps since we have members that have other rotary engines in their RX8.

I thought it was an odd choice, unless the intent is to further vilify & insult those who swap in non-RE engines. Just because you don't see or intend it that way doesn't mean it doesn't come across that way.

Welcome to my world .... :-/

My home built computers are considered to be Frankenstein. I've never considered it to be a derogatory term.

Yep, back in Oz we call it an engine conversion.

I thought it was already pretty clear...

We already have a large Forum for Rotary Engined cars...don't we?

The 'Frankenstein' is for non Rotary Engines 8's, a poll was conducted and 88% were happy for a change.https://www.rx8club.com/polls-70/fra...-rx-8s-244432/

The idea was to remove banger 8's from the main Rotary Forum, this has been done...I don't believe we need any more 'sub- forums'...if anything IMO some could be consolidated.

as usual, I'm with Paimon on this one.

As I expressed in another thread yesterday; while some of us might call them Frankenestein cars amongst friends or between ourselves, to actually name the subforum that is already insulting to those who would consider doing it.

Just so some members are aware how this forum actually works from a staff point of view..

Moderators (all) can not change the structure of these Forums, only Administrators and or site owners.

Mods can only mod, and move threads around to existing forums or sub forums.

If anyone has an issue or idea on how you believe it should be done or done better I suggest you PM Admin and while you are at it apply to work here for nothing.

We always need more 'helpers'.
