im planning to do an ls2 swap i already got the engine but everyone is telling me to do a 2jz swap instead..much easier..handles more power and no need to rebuild the whole engine just the block..the ls2 comes with 400hp stock..does it really need to be rebuilt to handle more power? for the 2jz u only need to weld 2 rackets that holds the tranny and the motor..could anyone tell me if the 2jz is a better choice? doesnt the 2jz give better mileage? the ls2 is too strong for the rx8 and the handling would suck or so i heard

Why would you call the ls swap a fail? It has 100hp and 200ftlb more stock,200 ftlb torque of torque mor Little to no maintenance better fuel economy longer engine life, easier to find parts, cheaper to make power.

He means fail in the sense that 99.9% of the LS swaps never see full completion. and when I say full completion, I mean done, not some half assed monstrosity with no gauges, ABS, TCS, etc. This one is only one of a handful that I have seem mostly completed in the last ten years.

Well yeah I do have to say that is true but that is why I am going to make everything available including ac heating full function dash. But I don't really understand why you would want traction control. I mean isn't that why you install the ls is so you won't have traction?

I have a turbo Renesis and I can't imagine driving in the rain with no traction control, I can't imagine with 100+ more wheel HP. It's just a safety net, especially for those who are not the best drivers.
I hope you do finish a legitimate kit.

I am building a 100% Full function swap, every last thing will function exactly perfect, however it requires alot of software work.
I have built many many LS swaps, and have seen few as intensive as the RX8 swap. The mounting solutions & 99% of the swap is pretty straight forward, it comes down to making the electronic systems communicate.
I am operating a GM E67 computer system on the LS9 harness for boost control in my swap, and then we are developing a gateway that will stand between GM & Mazda systems to extract and input data into the CAN lines to ensure all modules wake up & communicate correctly.

With my ls/t56 i live in Louisiana so rains very often and I have had no issues with losing traction unless it is on purpose. Idk if it it because of how my car was tuned or normal but until you get the rpms over 2300 your not breaking tires loose without your foot on the floor. Because of all the low end power of the ls there's no need to climb above 2k and still have the ability to move. Witch has surprised me because I most chevy trucks when it rains they spinn at every corner.
And as far as the dash goes you use all the mazda sensors to install on the chevy engine. I am having a custom bolt on tiger wheel for the tach to work that will become avalible soon.

Btw I have no intensional of pissing anyone off. I am just trying to make a good car great.
I don't have anything wrong with the rotary engine It's a great engine. I have jus found the ls to be a easy to work on little maintenance powerful and better fuel economy

I hear what you're saying but I've driven a ls1 miata in the cold and rain with no abs or tcs and it is much easier to drive than turbo miatas that make less power due to the power delivery of the ls car. The gearing is much taller with the t56 and you can mate it to a much taller rear end so power is very easy to modulate, where as I found with FI miatas and the really short gearing that they are more of a handful.

Yes it is my daily driver.
5 nights after work. As I am a mechanic at my families auto repair shop. I did mine on a four post rack as I found it easier for my build. It just took a few weeks to see where and how I was going to do things.

You're both semi-wrong. You can have traction control without the stock dbw tb, I have it with my mechanical 3rd gen rx7 tb. Now depending on what you mean by traction control/dsc. There's the control which will close the butterfly(which robs power) and then there's the part the that uses the brakes to individually to keep it straight. I have the second part which uses the brakes.

I have abs on my ls1 rx8 the mazda PCM connects to it. And just came out with the tiger wheel for tach/powersteering. Ls1rx8.com.
And yeah that's what I was more talking about is the kind that shuts power off. As I haven't every messed with the ones controls by brakes.
