Clearly you've never prototyped anything. Why risk damage to the nice shiny billet aftermarket parts when a temporary solution is more then adequate for testing purpose? Once all the solutions are decided, the new parts go in.

I designed computers that Dell and FNW sell. I designed analog electronics and build amplifiers from scratch just for the fun of it. I've converted vehicles to electric. Design motion/motor control systems. The list goes on. This build is definitly one of the simpler things I've done. Just not high priority. The updates I post are for those who enjoy watching something coming together without being from the now generation. So settle down slick. She'll be done some day.

Even if you are successful, and I'm routing for you to be despite your own misunderstanding of my earlier post about chilling out, an Isuzu engine in an Rx8 is and always will be a bastard child for the next owner to try and figure out when problems arise.

Why have a custom aluminum intake fabricated 5 times until it's perfect when you can make one out of PVC and rubber connectors then play with it until it's perfect. Fabrication of the actual part you will use long term is last, not first.
I'm on somewhere around 5th generation of custom parts/electronics for my current build and only now are things looking permanent. A couple more generations and I'll be done.

I just stumbled across this thread, don't even know exactly how, while searching for RWD power train for a chump car.
Could you sum-up the transmission choices that will simply bolt up to this motor? I tried to read through the entire thread but i just don't have the strength. The motor interests me though, Cheap, light, small, powerful (relatively) and the ability connect a RWD manual tran with out custom adapters.

Agree or disagree with what he's doing, you have to admit he is very knowledgeable on that Isuzu engine specifically what fits it.
His goals are a joke to the rest of us, but the progress he's made is slow but solid.

This is hilarious because his goals are to take a great chassis and provide it with a lightweight, powerful, reliable, efficient engine that will outperform the original in just about every measurable category. The worst thing some of you people can come up with to mock this guy is that researching the swap, mocking up and fabricating a bunch of custom components, and sharing the whole process here is taking a while. Seriously, that's the best you can do.
Let's ignore the technical prowess, the great fabrication skills, the creative solutions, the ability to look beyond brand snobbery and let's mock the amount of free time that a busy guy has.

Anything with the large Aisin bolt pattern (R154/supra, MA5/solstice/Colorado/hummer, NV3550/jeep, ect) will bolt to the Isuzu bellhousing. The Isuzu engine also has a GM60 pattern on it which opens even more options.
