LSXREX,

I have one word for your ride project - SWEEEEET...thumbs up.
I noticed the new radiator is a little bit closed to the engine. The good thing with the new engine is that doesnt has fan like 1JZ...:-).

It must have been a long journey for u, but it will be worthed...
Being different is not bad, but unique...:-)

Thanks bradah. Yeah the rad/fan is pretty close to the balancer. That is the Hinson radiator setup which is a 4" thick cross flow core. More than adequate for the LSX. I would very much like to use the factory rad/condenser and fans but the dropped rack/sway bar make that very difficult. It's possible but I do not know if it's a project I'm willing to tackle when I have the Hinson all ready to go.

Bradah LSX,
Whats ur plan for the suspension? The engine u have now must be 2 times heavy from the rotary. I m sure the front car drop couple of inch, and front tyres will wear off easily.

:-)

Weighed the rotary that came out along with the life support for it (coolers). I'm quite positive that the lsx may only weigh about 60-100 lbs than a fully dressed rotor. I plan to get the car weighed full of fluid along with a buddy's RX8.

is you lsx cast iron or aluminium

my 1jz gte was 477lbs and the 6 port renesis was 250lbs lol mine is an inline 6 cylinder cast iron with twin turbos

All aluminum. 250 lbs is alot less than my rotard weighed. I weighed it fully dressed with manifold and cat pipe. I even tossed all the oil cooler crap in the bin bc that is definately considered part f the motor. I was thinking about what those guys were saying about weight. I am willing to bet a trillion bucks that a fully dressed cam/head LS1 weighs less than a Renesis with all the turbo stuff bolted toit. My buddy is doing an FD and his LS3 weighs less than his full dressed 13B twin turbo.

Not tearing ya up. If there was a way to use aftermarket gauges I would. I too am using two ecus and providing as many inputs as possible to keep lights on the cluster from turning on. What a pain in them ass it is though. Some may think it's Bobo work but I could give a shit less about a low coolant light or a traction control inop light. Soldering iron will take care of that

Just unplug the coolant sensor and the light goes out. You could even use it for a level sensor somewhere else if you wanted to.

Joker,
We are in the same boat...:-)
1JZ do push the front part down. I had two piece of hard rubber dampener installed on the shock spring, just to stop the front hitting low. Im not sure if adjustable coil over will do extra benefit, and with the hard ride suspension, I might not enjoy the stiff ride. Anyhow, open to suggestion from others.

LSXREX 12-23-2014 02:06 PM

I didn't lose any ride height at all. I am getting a set of Bilsteins with Tein S springs to help tighten things up. I may just use the stock springs on the bilsteins if the Teins ride like a Radio Flyer. From the looks of the straight 6 there is more motor in front of the axle.

right off the bat don't worry about that, get adjustable coilovers,, that way you can lower your ride height and tighten up the front and lighten the rear to help displace the energy from the weight transfer from the the LS's torque,,,

and yes the motor does hangover about 8" to 12" pulleys and all

LSXREX 12-23-2014 04:07 PM

I'm gonna get the car corner weighted and I will move or replace components to get the car balancer within 2% which is great on a street car. I'm just considering the Bilsteins to help the ride and the Teins are just on them. I really don't want to lower the car any bc I don't want to slow down for speed bumps. I don't like lowering cars bc it ruins the ride and they are stressful to drive bc of bumps and transitions on the street.

Joker_andthe_thief 12-24-2014 11:49 AM

wow that's pretty impressive that you'd be able to aim roughly withing 2% ect,, lol im only 23y/o and intend on recreational drifting and time attacks, as well as a summer car, so i might be able to get away with my build being around 200lbs front heavy lol

LSXREX 12-24-2014 01:36 PM

Yeah 2% May be Very difficult without adding ballast which isn't practical in a street car. Really who adds weight anyway. 5% seems more realistic. This car is a street car and won't see any competition aside from some track days

Joker_andthe_thief 12-31-2014 11:14 AM

what is the winter temperature where your at? right now for me its 21*f I cant get anything done lol

LSXREX 12-31-2014 12:03 PM

Well its in the 30s and 40s in Austin but im not there right now. I go to Hawaii every christmas break to visit family. Ill get back in a week or so and hit it hard before the semester. My car is in my garage with a space heater and well lit.

Just putting this here in case it might help someone .... they also do an engine mount x-member

LSXREX 01-11-2015 01:44 PM

Dang dude thats a pricey set of headers. I used the Hinson headers 1 7/8" primaries, 3" slip fit collector, thick stainless flanges and tubes. VERY high quality.

Brettus 01-11-2015 02:01 PM

It's NZ$ so multiply by 0.75 .
Thought you would have it covered ..... no harm in seeing what is offered elsewhere though

LSXREX 01-11-2015 02:47 PM

Still alot for what can be considered a midlength. Im back on it tomorrow morning bright and early.

plus right hand drive only :/ lsx is rocking a left hand drive so the steering shaft would get in the way

LSXREX 01-16-2015 01:03 PM

I'd build a set of headers before I spent that much on longtubes. First off I'd like to say F&$@ the fuel pump setup. I've been going back in forth with reusing the sender assembly. Car only has 72k miles so I thought I could reuse the sender with the new pump. I wasn't aware the filter is housed in the sender. I am using a regulated filter so I don't need the rx8 one. I'm trying to see if there is a way to bypass the filter but not looking likely. Im probably just gonna get a new sender. Im gonna have some super clean fuel.

Brettus 01-16-2015 02:22 PM

BTW ....If you go too big with the fuel pump (300l/hr ) on the stock assembly, you will overheat the fuel and it will cause pressure spikes . It is possible to fix this with a few mods .

LSXREX 01-16-2015 03:43 PM

I'm using an AEM. It's 255 lph

Brettus 01-16-2015 04:04 PM

Thoughtt the AEM was 320 ? :dunno:

LSXREX 01-16-2015 05:40 PM

Oh damn it is. Well back to the drawing board. I'm actually happy to hear that. Im just gonna plumb the factory feed to the siphon and run a bulkhead fitting for the main feed to bypass the filter.

what are your Lsx fuel requirement? i know the Renny drank up the sauce,, so the fuel pump isnt strong enough?
