In other news I am still in the air with what intake I want to use. I would like DBW as it is smoother and can have cruise control, on the other hand I have a FAST 102/102 with a DBC TB. I can configure the factory pedal to use a cable and I have a Lokar cable. This is a stock Ls1 with some oiling mods, 1 7/8" longtubes, and underdrive pulley. The 102 may be overkill for it. And if I use the 102 I can't use the corvette FRCs which I really like.

On another topic, what is the RX8 fuel pressure? I'm told it is 60psi but I cannot find a definitive answer. I am using a corvette regulator/filter and would like to use the output on the pump if I can.

9krpmrx8 12-01-2014 02:34 PM

Fuel line pressure
375-450 kPa {3.83-4.58 kgf/cm2, 54.4-65.2 psi}

From the FSM.

Thats great news. So im just gonna wire the pump into its own dedicated circuit triggered by the GM PCM and use the stock RX8 outlet. I will then plumb the feed directly to a corvette reg/filter and run the return either into the Evap line or a bulkhead fitting. Im also considering using the GM evap solenoid and installing a MAP sensor on top of the fuel bucket. May not be necessary though.

LSXREX 12-04-2014 10:59 PM

Well I decided I'm gonna use cable because I got a great deal on a cable FAST 102 setup

Update!

LSXREX 12-08-2014 07:07 PM

Just voted mayor of ADDville. I went back and forth many many times on wire or cable throttle. Finally settled on an LS2 TB setup with a FAST 90 intake. Also the radiator was a topic of debate. I bought the Hinson Kit used and complete (not installed). It came with an aluminum radiator that takes up a lot of room. I tried every way to get the factory radiator/fans/condenser to fit but the dropped steering rack and sway bar is in the way. I'd like to retain factory radiator position bc the AC lines will be less work but I can't make it work without looking hodge podge and possibly unsafe. So I've been doing lots of soldering as I moved the PCMs to the washer res location and need to extend the harnesses. I'm gonna finish some wiring and possibly get it cranked up this weekend. Still a long way from running but it would be nice just to fire it up. Motor harness is nearly finished and just needs to be removed and wrapped. It's hard to get a lot of pics when I'm doing all the work.

Any way to just fab up some brackets for the radiator and a/c condenser? can you lay it down pretty much near the under tray? Sweet put some pics up when you get the whole radiator and a/c condenser squared.

LSXREX 12-09-2014 07:22 AM

Yeah I'm sure I could but it would be difficult to get the right angle. Plus I'd need to buy a radiator and it will be a lot of work getting the brackets fabbed. More work than just building the AC lines. I'm just gonna stick with the Hinson radiator. I'll need to mfab some easy brackets for the condenser and the lines will be quite an issue to tackle. I just wish it half an inch thinner though.

Anyone know what pin 5S goes to? It is hanging off the harness from the PCM to the body. Can't find anything on it online

Joker_andthe_thief 12-14-2014 07:44 PM

HOLY WIRING BATMAN! lol nice build tho, power torque and reliability what was your tranny solution ? custom drive shaft? how much did that run you?

LSXREX 12-14-2014 09:34 PM

Wiring isn't too tidy right now it'll all get sorted soon. I'm using a T56 with an adjusted MGW f body shifter, PST driveshaft and custom Trans crossmember. More than enough room and shifter is perfectly in the stock position. Haven't been able to make too much progress bc of finals and I leave for hawaii for a month.

Joker_andthe_thief 12-15-2014 02:53 PM

that's tho lol,, I wanna see your ideas on the crank position sensor if your reusing the stock tach,, also have fun in Hawaii hottest Asian girls ever hahaha

LSXREX 12-16-2014 01:28 PM

Got that prob figured out. Hinson builds an amazing setup that uses a billet bracket bolted to the waterpump. A new underdrive pulley built by PowerBond has an RX8 reluctor machined in to the pulley. Sooooooooo much nicer than the aluminum spacr with the stoxk reluctor bolted to it.

Joker_andthe_thief 12-16-2014 09:44 PM

lol thats great! that gives me a much better idea of how I intend to mangle mine together ;)

LSXREX 12-17-2014 10:38 PM

Ls1rx8.com has a kit that mounts a stock reluctor to the balancer and uses a bracket to locate the pickup. I opted for the MUCH more secure and cleaner Hinson setup with the custom machined balancer and CNC pickup bracket.

Joker_andthe_thief 12-18-2014 12:07 AM

that would be just to recycle the OEM tachometer, not bad im still fighting my oil pan over the k member welding together a rear sump

LSXREX 12-18-2014 12:15 AM

Seeing as the tach is the centerpiece of the cluster its pretty importsnt to keep. I cant see aftermarket gauges being done well in that dash. What are you doing for steering? Youll need ckp to use the Electric steering

lol don't tear me up... I intend on using both ECU's the RX-8 ECU allowing me to run 60-80% of the clusters functions aswell as ignition switch with chip key as well as what ever it's tied into

the 1jz ECU is only going to run the ignition timing and fuel injection and running related sensors

LSXREX 12-18-2014 01:41 PM

Not tearing ya up. If there was a way to use aftermarket gauges I would. I too am using two ecus and providing as many inputs as possible to keep lights on the cluster from turning on. What a pain in them ass it is though. Some may think it's Bobo work but I could give a shit less about a low coolant light or a traction control inop light. Soldering iron will take care of that

Joker_andthe_thief 12-18-2014 01:53 PM

mint, im not going to kill my self installing the oem cruize control or abs im human abs lol

LSXREX 12-18-2014 03:25 PM

Im using the Corvette cruise control and going to reuse the RX8 ABS. Im pretty sure the only signals the RX8 requires is CKP, ECT, Oil, Oil level, Coolant level, and power

semrz1 12-19-2014 12:38 AM

LSXREX,

I have one word for your ride project - SWEEEEET...thumbs up.
I noticed the new radiator is a little bit closed to the engine. The good thing with the new engine is that doesnt has fan like 1JZ...:-).

It must have been a long journey for u, but it will be worthed...
Being different is not bad, but unique...:-)
