Fd 13b swap insight please (moved from new member forum)

I recently purchased an'04 Rx8 touring. Well the engine blew on me 4 days after the warranty was up. It had an oil change when i bought and i had the oil changed two more times myself. So im guessing the oil rings were pretty shot when i bought it because according to my previous mechanic, he pulled the engine out and broke it down and the rings were pretty much gone and my rotors melted to the shaft. So i bought a fd3s 13b twin turbo as a replacement engine since its $1700 price tag was more appealing than a $2,500 used renesis. The motor has good compression(120 on both rotors) and its a complete swap including tranny, ecu and wire harrness uncut. My question is, with everything put on the motor and it being ready to go, what is a fair price to pay a shop to get it in and everything working properly?(Keep in mind that i already emptied the entire engine bay, minus the tranny)

You may want to hold off asking questions like this. Open up a few other similar build threads and start reading.
You aren't talking about replacing tires, here. There is a lot of work that requires knowledge and, more importantly, proper planning.

Expect to pay more than the cost of the "unappealing renesis"...

Expect that $1700 to turn into something close to $17,000 LOL

Can the rotors actually melt to the eccentric shaft?
That's crazy.

The cheapest shop-done FD swap I've heard of was $15,000, with only $3,000 in "extra" options

So much for saving $800...

The only reason i was asking was because i wanted to know fair price to pay him. I thought 1500 sounded a little low and i didnt want to rip him off because he is a good friend of mine doing me a favor, but that was for a sr20 swap since hes used to swapping nissan motors.

I'd say you're looking at about 10,000 for a nice decent install.

You can do it cheaper if you research. But you need to research. There is also obd2.

Also asaik ka to sr swaps dont require engine mount changes.

I'd say you're still looking at around 5k min
