Hi there Joker,
please can you assist me, do you have any dimensions or a template of the adapter-plate you made for the engine and gearbox?
CAD file?

Hey update

Right. So at the $7000 mark (including car) I was able to get the car running driving hitting 9psi (low) untill break in is completed re-assembled with RSX seats a universal motorcycle cluster, and BMW rims and tires, the vehicle.. once I took it to the body shop, 'guy quoted 5gs in rust repair, dent repair and a proper paint job... On top of that the vehicle still needed a proper set of coilovers to support the extra 230lbs up front, another $1400, so all in all after 2 years I found a datsun 280zx for a great price its emmissions exempt and begun rebuilding the motor and converting it to carberation,, sold the
Rx-8 "unfinished" running driving for $6g's probably would have got more if I had gotten the body sorted out.. If anyone wants to do this, feel free to look me up on my Instagram @joker_andthe_thief I have all my videos and pictures there.

Wiring questions

I caved and bought a "wiring specialties" "1jzgte to universal" harness wich connected to the positive and negative on the fuel pump, the Oem cluster was removed and replaced by a universal motorcycle cluster, and at the point of sale only the tach and fuel level and oil pressure light was hooked up, I had to get speed signal from the either the front or rear wheel not sure what I wanted to go with, and then select the appropriate resistor for that

Ah thanks for the update. Will see if i can view your Instagram without having an account. I've just bought an RX8 non runner and have an almost complete 1j in my garage. Hoping to mate it to the rx8 transmission as you did. Thanks for all the pictures in this thread, it was the deciding factor for me to buy the rx8 for my 1j

Lol you guys, my budget was $7000, for $7000 I purchased the car put a 1jzgte in it and had it running driving and going through all the rx-8's gears, if I have another $5000 car would be perfect body work and suspension,

I'm doing something similar. Where might one get that custom pilot bearing? Anything that's not obvious I should look for or do as well?

I had a machine shop make me the spacer that sat on the back of the crankshaft. They machined it so this bearing would sit into it:
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190478692204

The internal diameter of this bearing fits the rx8 6 speed input shaft. Hope that helps

Just another idiotic build thread where the pictures are hot-linked rather than uploaded. When the links go dead, as they already are starting to die off in this thread and eventually always do, it just becomes another graveyard that nobody knows or remembers anything about. It's pointless to make a build thread that way.
