You'll need to return the fuel through the siphon or your pump won't operate below a 1/4 tank. Can't use the evap/vent line for return.

well back to it again here's an up date on the steering situation

the the sock mounting location was not feasible, but there were was a hole on the OEM mounting bracket located dead center of the bracket(s) so i put a long 8.8 grade nut and bolt wit a 1" spacer and tightened down, there will also be a bolt in the way at the top of the rack I just ground it off no problem....

next ill be fabbing up a triangular brace that will connect the two lower bolt holes on the rack to the k frame

moving forward just order my Wideband O2 kit

and this is the photo of the 1jzgte wiring harness with only the essential plugs to run the motor in any car, I plan to model my OE harness against it and "cut the fat" from it

I have the PLX DM-6 AFR and boost and I hate it, I have been thru two of them (replaced for free but still) and my current one is acting up, I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work right, and they work great for a while and then start acting up. My buddy (Hoss-05) has all PLX stuff (OBD, several modules, etc)and half of it doesn't work anymore either. Mine is being replaced with the new Innovate AFR/BOOST.

Hi Joker,
Its looking great. Thumbs up.
I had my 1JZ replaced with 2JZ-GTE (Aristo JZS161) last month. A friend offered a good deal, cant resist it...hehehh...
The only challenge now is removing the speed cut 180km/h. Need to get HKS SLD Type T6a since my 2JZ is using auto transmission.
So, when will ur RX8 ready to drive? Keep posting on the progress. :-)

Just leak tested with coolant, all is good now mounting the large front mount intercooler,,, I'm going to do all 2.5" abs piping glued together as a prototype then take both correctly assembled pipes to my pipe bender and get him to replicate them in thin walled 2.5" steal then black wrinkle coat

yup so I have been busy just haven't gotten around to thoroughly document "The Struggle" just kidding here's a list of whats been completed

1 fuel rail, supply and return (used oem fuel supply line with oem pump, connected with rubber fuel line) (return line i used stainless 3/8th's line and fitted along side the supply along with more rubber line across the top of the tank to a 90* brass 3/8th's elbow i threaded and siliconed in to the top of the fuel pump assembly)

2 exaust is all buttoned up with a stainless steel y pipe and 3" downpipe

4 clutch line has been bled, seems to work well (have not used heavy realistic punishment yet, just operational testing)

5 transmission is all set up with flex, spacer,flywheel,rxclutch.1jpressureplate, and trany/driveshaft

6 intake piping has been mocked up using 2" abs drain pipe and is now being bent in 2.75" aluminum,

greddy rz bov flange has been welded onto the throttle body,

just finished the wiring harness for the 1jzgte in a stand alone configuration and i have completely done away with the oem Rx-8 computer and harness. only the essentials were kept.

not too much left to do to the old girl,, going to put the harness back in wire it up to the rx-8 ignition switch, hook up switch power to the cabin fuse boxes and continue
and just for the hell of it i picked this guy up for a modest sum

so far total spending including the cars has reached 6,400cad,,, not including tires for my old bmw m3 LTW's

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Post #78!!!!!!!!

I have moved my oem steering rack down. The top bolt holes were bolted through the small center holes in the middle of the steering rack bracket. I then reconnected the tie rods normally. I intend to get my knuckles machined and the the outer tierod holes moved much closer to the pivot point and extend the tie rod arms

Joker, when u pop that trans, the Solstice trans will bolt up to the engine if you use a Supra bellhousing for the R154. They share the same bolt pattern. Shifter should line up as well. If you go that route, hit me up when you need the driveshaft combinations.

Hey Joker.

I have a couple questions if you don't mind helping out.

I have just bought an Rx8 and the motor is finished and thanks to your posts I've decided I have to get a 1jz twin turbo motor.

1) What management system are you running?
2) Do you have to cut the sub frame?
3) Do the engine mountings need to be custom made?
4) Are you using the 6 speed Rx8 gearbox or should I change that?
5) Your fuel system, was it left standard or should I change it?

What ever you can help with would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks man.

All this was covered but here we go,

1) Oem 1jzgte ecu and harness

2) no cutting of the sub frame with exemption of the top half of the rack and pinion mount bracket

3) engine mounts will need to be made I was lazy in design but that made them cheap quick strong and ugly :/

4) I am using the 6mt in order to save $$ on a custom drive shaft but,, the adapter ended up costing roughly just as much as I kept bring it back for minor alteration ( thinning the outside and inside)

5) For the fuel system I'm using the stock fuel pump and lines right the the engine bay where I slipped on a rubber fuel line with two clamps and connected that to the fuel rail, for return I ran 3/16ths stainless steel line along the existing fuel/brake lines and fed it up over the gas tank and into the top of the fuel pump housing via a brass 90* drilled threaded and silicone'd in.

I am stuck on the internal cab wiring,

It is far from difficult but it is tedious

Internal cab wiring??

What are you having to wire inside of the car? I think I only touched 2 connectors in the engine harness of mine and left the rest stock.

GET THIS THING GOING!! We need more unique engine swaps at Strada meets
