Your thoughts?

my brother has a 05 and just got the coils and starter done. Literally the next day he starts it up in the morning and it shakes pretty crazy for 5-8 seconds and goes too normal idling. I guess it did it again when he got off work AND the check engine light came on but the car drives fine. Any ideas guys?

They disconnected the battery to install the starter. The ECU needs a few more drive cycles to re-learn the fuel trims. This is normal.

Did the check engine light remain on? If so, go to Autozone and have it read for free.

Other than the check engine light it seems normal for when the battery is disconnected.

$1200 for coils and a starter? Man...... The shaking is likely unrelated but it's a pretty vague description, could be many things.

yea 1200 is absurd. Anyhow, my assumption was the shaking was due to the rough idle. Not enough info to really go on though.

So he spent $1200 before spending the $125 to have a compression test? I hope he is still covered by the 8 year/100k mile core warranty!

Ok but that doesn't happen overnight. Was he driving fine before the ignition was changed? Are you sure the right coils are connected to the right plugs?

Theres also no such CEL that would tell you if you had low compression or not.

Yeah everything was fine until the starter and ignition coils got replaced. It even drives fine when it actually starts up too. Easy redline no acc problems
