You guys wont believe this....

Soooo, my motor blew up.... again. Yep, again.

About a month ago I was cruising down a small highway, after a red light turned green, I pressed the gas and went into 2nd gear and my car backfired and wouldn't accelerate. I pulled over, came to a complete stop and the car turned off on its own and wouldn't start back up.

With that being said, I got a BRAND NEW MOTOR. 0 MILES ON THE MOTOR! NEW! NEW! NEW!

Tonight I was on that same road, car backfired again, came to a stop at a red light, car turned off and wouldn't start back up.

SO WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON HERE?

Some facts

- I drive on a major highway every day for about 15 minutes going 65-70 mph on average.

- I drive on average 30 minutes before shutting it off.

- The new motor only has 301 miles on it.

- It is automatic.

- Regular oil was put in upon putting in new motor.

- I do have a borla exhaust. So I do rev it from time to time lol.

Before you say anything like "oh maybe it needs a new fuel injector" or "maybe your apex seals need to be replaced" NO! ALL OF THAT WAS JUST REPLACED 300 MILES AGO. A new motor means EVERYTHING WAS REPLACED. It's prolly easier to just name the things that weren't replaced. Tires, chasis, rims, interior, exhaust (Catlytic converter was replaced however as well and spark plugs)

I'm not sure what you expect us to say based on the info provided. There's something wrong with the engine, get in touch with whoever built/installed it?

Just so you know, your typical engine replacement at Mazda does NOT include replacing injectors, coils, spark plugs, etc. unless the situation specifically calls for it. If you had it done somewhere else, could be different.

So on that note.. were your ignition coils replaced?

Yeah you didn't have a BRAND NEW MOTOR, 0 MILES ON THE MOTOR! You had a rebuilt engine composed of a few new items and mostly used items. and depending on who rebuilt it and how matters the most.

What was the rate of oil consumption on the previous motor prior to its failure?

At a guess.... fuel pump failure, lean spike, boom.

It's happened before. Kim_Rene lost her first engine that way, the dealer blew the replacement reman before they could give it back to her, then they found the failing fuel pump, replaced it and everything fine after that.

I just saw the OP's other post describing a scraping sound at high RPMs and thought the same thing (and came back here to up update my post accordingly ).

He is right.

"New" motors don't exist. You can pay for a "new motor", but that just means someone lied to you about what is in there. Mazda stopped making new series 1 motors back in 2009 i think, and the supply was exhausted in 2011 or 2012. All motors since then are remanufacturered, meaning rebuilt with some new and some used parts. The only way you get something different is if you commission a different company other than Mazda to build you an engine using all new parts ordered from Mazda, which would run you in the $6,000-$10,000 range, depending on labor rates.

Well, you did ask.
You may not like the answers, but they are factually correct.

Actually, I've seen a couple cans tagged as brand new from reputable vendors over the years. I think Mazmart was the last vendor I saw this tag from. Perhaps it's NIB.... just an old box.

Perhaps you guys are right and he's just horribly misinformed.

Yes, it's usually the case, and the fact that he didn't diagnose the first failure's cause makes it even more likely.
