FL Yamalube 2R Premix

Hello fellow RX8ers,

I'm new to the Rotary world after driving 3 Volkswagens in my lifetime.
I recently bought a 2004 RX8 with 84k on the clock. All service is to date and serviced only at Mazda. Now here is my question:

I got my hands on a quart of Yamalube 2R 2 cycle oil. Is this stuff safe to use as Premix. I plan to get my hand on the Amsoil Sabre Professional later but I have to order it online. (preferred member)

Has anyone used Yamalube 2R with no ill effects? Also can premix harm the engine? The reason why I ask is that I've been searching high and low for a honest answer. Most people swear by it and most say do not even attempt to put it in your car.

Anyone want to chime in on this? I've done an extensive search on the whole site on Yamalube and came up empty

I've used it...its better for our engines than 2stroke designed for outboard engines. You can use it with no problems.

I was a bit skeptical since I found it out it was a semi-synthetic oil. Also common ratio is 400:1 or 4oz per full tank?

Its oil As long as it does what it is designed for it doesn't matter if it is conventional oil or synthetic. This is like the "premium gas" is always better thinking that the oil companies have us believing......

And 4-5 oz per tank is lots if you are already lubricating with the OMP...it is just extra insurance

perhaps 2oz is better? And also, can you add premix after fill up or must be done prior to fill up?

Thanks for the info btw!!

You want it to mix....and wash down the filler tube...so before or during is better than after.
Personally I would add 4oz for street....
