Wow! (introduction)
Just got my 6 speed RX8 (hi power of course) it's really too much fun! It's not the fastest car I've driven but it is by far the most fun. LOVE this car. I'll put engines in it every year if I have to! B-) the first few will be free though as I have a always Mazda serviced 2007 with 44k. Pictures tomorrow I promise! Sorry I was driving until it got dark.

I think my engine is fine by the way just every person that hears I bought a RX8 tells me the engine will go. I've always thought rotary engines were bulletproof. Poor Mazda really gets a bad wrap for the renesis. Maybe most people are just idiots and don't properly research or care for their engines? I'm going with that until this puppy proves me wrong!

Heya, I'm happy that you are enjoying your 8 and I wanted to welcome you to the club.
When people tell you that your engine will go, tell them theirs will too! Nothing lasts forever, right? Its like telling someone: you will eventually die...
Many people are misinformed about rotary engines. Typically what happens is that someone will buy a used rx8 from someone who didnt take care of it properly and then the new owner has issues.
While they are not bulletproof, rotaries have some advantages and inconveniences over ordinary engine.
There is no sure way to prevent engine failure, only ways to reduce the risk...
Even a brand new car can stop working over night.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy your car for years to come!

Renesis engine replacement is an obsession in one place only, and that's right here, on this forum. Go up to most RX-8 owners and ask them how many engines they've had and they won't have the faintest idea of what you're talking about.

There you go spreading misinformation again. I guess that is why the reman plant has been running at a delay for years now huh? They must be rebuilding all those engines for the same people over and over How many miles are on your RX-8 again?
Here is a quote from an article about the plant from 2011.
Mazda first opened the plant in May 2008 to rebuild rotary-powered engines for its RX-8 sports car. Last year, the plant produced more than 5,000 re-manufactured engines.
Welcome aboard lowman, ditch the Crown Vic wheels

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
Those chrome wheels...
Did you buy the car with those chrome wheels already there? I'm not trying to say its ugly, but its not my kind of wheels to put on the rx8. Anyway, if you like it, then that's fine...to each, their own.

Finally,
Someone else who understands this car.. Run it like you love it and it loves you... As for engines, if you use them, they last. My current one (replaced before I got the car) has close to 80,000 miles, runs like a bat out of hell, and gets me 22 mpg (on a rather uncommon route) to boot. There is one merge where I dutifully hit 9K every day. I love the sound.
There are also a few good threads in my sig. The $100 one is mods, the other is a compilation of background data.
