What a productive thread...

Maybe you can provide WHAT you're seeing at wot, and at what rpm?

Or are you just having a discussion with yourself?

At idle it's 4.3 -4.6gs
free rev no load at 2k is 8.4gs

I just checked At WOT right now it's 115gs At around 85-9k in first gear

Ltft at idle 7-10
Stft around 0

Ltft at 2k is 8

I've checked for vacuum leaks everywhere. I'm getting fuel pressure gauge tomorrow to check pressure at load.

Any advice?

Have you checked under the throttle body where the VFAD line connects?

Yes I actually plugged it up with a cap under the tb to see if the vfad was at fault and to no avail. I used up an entire can of carb cleaner checking the lines.

The car sat for a week with 1/4 gas in the tank. I went to start it and it fired up right away with maf around 5.0 and it drove a little better, but went back down to 4.4 the next day

Smoke test or check compression. That is about where mine was at borderline compression.

Compression tested by rotary tech, it was good not on the low side. Best way to smoke test? I've read it's not a good idea to mix the smoke with the fuel vapors for some reason

My MAF readings on my 6speed auto at max of 7krpm seemed to be about 180.

I've got 34k miles so I don't use much, but in the last month I got 170 once, and a lot of 150s.

This should measure pumping of rotors, but I wonder if **** gas would affect it.

I'll check some more, and if new summer gas out about now doesn't raise it, maybe I'll reach for a bottle of TECHRON.

I never used Techron on this car since idle seemed ok, and I didn't want to wash oil off apex seals.

I'm not a newb if it sounds like it.

What are you actual compression numbers? Mine were not on the low side either, just above the line. As for the smoke test look on youtube for how to make a homemade one, or you can buy a homemade one on ebay for $50-$75. I just took the intake off and covered to accordian with plastic wrap and rubber bands. Then hooked the smoke tester up to the vfad nipple.

Well he didn't give me actual numbers I should've asked but he said in right in the middle. But my 8 runs real good once in a while. No hard starts at all. Did you have a leak? That's what I'll do get one from ebay and use your strategy

Mine runs real good all the time. No hard starts. Found a slight leak around the three hoses connected to the accordian, but did not change maf values when clamped. See thread below.

interesting, so my compression could be the potential cause

If the guy doing your compression test didn't give you numbers, you need to do one of two things:

1) Go back and get the actual numbers.

-or-

2) Get your money back.

I have a friend who just found out his engine is way below failing (88-90 psi @ 270 RPM) but his car runs fine (it's his track toy and never has hot idle or warm start issues).
