what series rx8 I should buy

Hi, I know a lot about the first gen rx8 but not for the second. Is the 2nd gen better ? I am looking forward to buy an rx8 that I will probably modify it to make 350 hp. What you would buy s1 or s2? I am from Greece and here you can't find an r3 s2 rx8. So I have to choose between s1 6port rx8 - s1 4 port rx8 - s2 4port rx8. Please help.

Do you plan to rebuild the motor before boosting it? 350hp is not easy, especially if starting with a tired engine.
I'd say S1 6 port, they're a bit easier to modify. The 4 ports are usually more expensive to find parts for, and they make less power to begin with so boosting them might not be wise. I haven't done this myself, so there might be reasons that a 4 port is preferable for boost applications, it's certainly simpler.

S2 supposedly has some reliability improvements. Stuff like more oil injectors and better cooling system. Aftermarket mods are more limited.

As for 350HP, this isn't a car you can get a lot out of from bolt-ons. You will have to either turbocharge the Renesis or dump something else(13B-REW, LS, etc.) in, all of which can cost around US$10k around here in North America. If you want that kind of power easily, get an old V8 Mustang.

BTW I am pretty sure S2s only come in 6-port engine versions.

I agree with the above. However, getting that kind of power out of a Renesis will be difficult. A lo tof people have gone with a REW swap to make the power they want and still keep the rotary engine.

I personally much prefer the look of the S1 RX-8 over the S2. I prefer the look inside and out. I do like the R3 however. But if you plan on building the car, its a matter of taste at that point. Stock Renesis reliability concerns are out the window at that point IMO.
