What is this plug for?

I had the inner wheel arch liner off to diagnose an HID kit installed by a previous owner of my '09 Sport, and found a plug completely disconnected with no obvious place for it to go. This is on the driver's side, ahead of the wheel, and the plug in question is hanging down in this picture right behind the oil cooler banjo bolts.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Ok, thank you! I guess I just didn't expect an unused plug to just be hanging out behind the wheel arch like that, and I assumed it was something to do with the headlight HID modification the PO performed.

The side marker on the fender behind the front wheel? That one is working despite this being unplugged.

Sorry I wasn’t help

Once I get home I’ll go looking around to see if I can find where mine is plugged in. If I have one.

Whoever is looking at this, take note that the picture is for a series 2 Rx8 so this plug would not be for the side markers, additionally the plug for the side markers on a series 1 is back behind the headlight so theres no way this could be the side marker. I am sure this is for the fog light.

Yeah this is way too short to connect to the side marker on an S2.

S2 Sport doesn't come with fogs stock, though... I can check my GT to confirm the plug shape but it's kinda weird to have Japanese cars have wires for something that can't be ordered as an accessory.

Edit: looking at the wire colour and the wiring diagram, this could very well be the fog light plug. Is one wire white and blue and the other black?
