What kind of battery for my 2004 rx8?

Am I able to use a battery from Canadian tire in my rx8?

Or does it require a special kind of battery?

Personally, I can't foresee a problem with a house brand so long as they have a correct listing for dimensions and post placement. I would, however, go with the highest amperage and, if they have it, a gel battery as they seem to stand up to more abuse than a wet-cell.

Make sure the battery is not physically bigger than OEM. The battery box is bigger, giving the illusion that something bigger would fit, but the extra space is needed for cooling. There's a service bulletin with the details.

Also make sure that the positive and negative terminals are the same positions... and not reversed. A member bought a battery with them reversed, connected it up, and fried most of his electronics before the fuses blew. Cars don't take kindly to reverse electrical flow.
