Exclamation URGENT-Car won't start- Security Alert

Hi guys this is my first post regarding my rx8, though I'm on here all the time learning from you all. Thank you

So i recently got backed into by a large truck, it bent my rear panel and my bumper and tail light were trashed. Anyways my trunk could no longer close due the incident.

Over the weekend, and it pains me to say this so please don't give me any **** for it I'm already feeling the guilt enough, I left my hatch open. Here in texas in rained hard ALL NIGHT.
I woke up the next morning to find my trunk flooded, so I immediately removed the carpet and took out the rubber drain plugs. I than found the inside of my car drenched, center console cup holders filled with water. The radio was fine, the seat warmers were fine, everything seemed to be okay. Nothing near the steering wheel to my knowledge got wet.
The car started and ran for two days. I let it sit for one day after that. This is the fourth day and my car won't start, it is saying that the security system is armed and i am using a false key( Im using the key i bought the car with) I do have two just the spare is not with me at the moment.
Im about to take out the center console cause all the water has seeped down through the cup holder to somewhere unknown, maybe an electrical problem.. probably..
If anyone has gone through any of these problems, water damage, security sensor, please help me out to your knowledge.

What year is your car? Have you tried replacing the batteries in your key fob?

It's an 04 manual transmission with 110,000 miles on it.
By key fob, do you mean the key its self, Or do you mean the electric unlock/lock/panic thing that i separate from the key. Like on my key chain. The battery in that died a few months ago, and i have not yet changed it. I did not know if it came with the car or if the owner programed one form like auto zone.

I don't think that stops the car from starting.

Are you getting a rapid flashing security (key) light?

Yes it is rapid. Solid when key in and not engaged. As soon as i turn it, the engine dose register i heart the starter or alternator, security light dose flash rapidly.

Search for the "DIY Diagnostic" thread.
In there is a troubleshooting procedure for the immobilizer system, patterns of the light flashing and pauses that may help you pinpoint it.
I had a shorted coil wire that caused mine, kept popping the engine fuse.
Before you do that, check all your fuses.

Possibly related, there is an antenna of some type behind the rear bumper for the immobilizer system.
Since you had an issue there, it could be related.

I was experiencing the same issues with the car not starting and was in the process of troublshooting the key fob and that same "behind the bumper" antenna. I haven't narrowed it down as of yet. This is something I need to diagnose when I get my car back. I figured that the two could be related.

Here is one of a number of threads on the topic: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tro...cation-165856/

EDIT: I just noticed that the OP is refering to an 04 model.

sup holder?

The best way is to check the DIY subforum. Lots of useful tricks and tips.

Also, the best way to search for relevant info is a google search, using this example: Click

EDIT: ignore the type-o lol
