AT transmission stalls in 1st gear after driving for a hour
Bought my 2008 RX8 in 2011 with 17k miles. It now has 104k miles and has had some modifications done. Biggest one being K&N intake, aluminum radiator, dual 12in fans, new thermostat, high pressure radiator cap, LS ignition system and new plugs , wires and solenoids. The car had over heating problems and it turned out that the person that installed my ignition system up-grade did it wrong. Coils wrong, wires wrong and sparks plugs wrong L/T, T/L. I re-installed the system and corrected all the problems myself. Now I have the power failure in 1st gear after running great for about a hour.
Any ideas about causes.

Describe the problem a bit more for me. So you are driving for about an hour and presumably stop and idle is fine or it just dies once you’ve stopped? The fact coils and wires were misplaced could have caused engine damage. Those determine firing order and could cause the car to run rich due to not burning fuel properly and stressing the engine. Have you done a compression test yet? Always the first thing to check with hot stalling issues.

Looking for a rotary specialist now for the compression test,
but the car runs great from 2nd gear on. The idle will get a
off as it warms up and pulling off from a stop gets dicey before
it just shuts off. Always in park or 1st gear and only after the car
has been running for a while. The check engine light does not
come on and I have checked for pending codes but there are none.
I will try cleaning the ESS.
