Well anyone have a diy for dropping the auto tranny? I have a manual for dissassembly. I called levelten and as soon as I have the cash Im pickin up a torque converter and looks like Im installing it by myself :/ hopefully the trans will pull through for me.

 

Update:
Well looking at the fluid it was like chocolate milk so im guessing my clutches went. I put in a used transmission and torque converter with 87,000 on it that i got for 250 baller dills haha. Rolledbit around till empty and filled it with fresh atf...now its smooth as butter :D. Wasnt as hard as I thought either dropping the engin down made getting to the bolts on top a breeze.

Haha even when it was broken still never doubted it. 138,000 miles and when it goes then it will be getting a new engine. Owned a 87 b2200 as my first ride ...now I'm Mazda for life haha.
Love my rx8 most deffinatly and the community is great too. You could never ask for more awesome people. I appreciate every bit of knowledge I have gathered from here.

Sidenote: People who dont like 8's can suck it. I have an auto 4 spd and still love it.

 

Question here, have just had re manufactured engine installed bu dealer and now there is a rumble or brief vibration when i put the car in drive and accelerate after starting car - does not continue ONLY after a restart and putting into drive and hitting petal . It is a "groan" and happens only briefly upon starting otherwise shifts and sounds great? any thoughts ??

 

Im guessing this is an auto.? I would put it on jackstands and try to replicate the sound to locate its origin. Without experiencing the noise/feeling/general problem its hard to say. Im not a top wrench but I figure most things out haha.

 

Oh btw do you have a check engine light?
