Swapping Instrument Cluster

Swapping Instrument Cluster
My series 1 instrument cluster has gone bad and I would like to swap in a used cluster.
I realise that the mileage won't match and that I'll need to get the cluster coded to the car by the dealer, but my question is can I use any cluster form a series 1, 2 or 3? Is the immobiliser compatible across all models and will all of the clocks work OK?
Thanks very much,
Josh
PS
I'm UK based if that makes any difference?

Series 3?!
As far as I know, even a dealer cannot reflash a cluster, the mileage is inaccessible. Your best bet is to find a cluster close to your mileage on eBay. They are technically interchangeable between low power and high power, and AT and MT. Of course AT has gear indicator lights and a lower tachometer. I am not one hundred percent certain if series 1 to series 2 will work, but I don't think it's compatible. They changed a lot on series 2.
