Swapping Instrument Cluster
My series 1 instrument cluster has gone bad and I would like to swap in a used cluster.
I realise that the mileage won't match and that I'll need to get the cluster coded to the car by the dealer, but my question is can I use any cluster form a series 1, 2 or 3? Is the immobiliser compatible across all models and will all of the clocks work OK? Thanks very much, Josh PS I'm UK based if that makes any difference? |
Series 3?!
As far as I know, even a dealer cannot reflash a cluster, the mileage is inaccessible. Your best bet is to find a cluster close to your mileage on eBay. They are technically interchangeable between low power and high power, and AT and MT. Of course AT has gear indicator lights and a lower tachometer. I am not one hundred percent certain if series 1 to series 2 will work, but I don't think it's compatible. They changed a lot on series 2. |
Thanks for the advice, I will avoid a series 2 cluster and see how I get on :)
