Starting noise (1st 1-2 minutes) Also past 30 days cant post in other sections
Intended to post this in Series I Trouble Shooting section, but for some reason site treats me as a new member, and doesn't let me post anything but responses in other sections, other than New Member forums.
Hopefully a mod can either correct this or let me know what i havent done right/did wrong, or fix it.
Anyways.
My 04 Touring is making an interesting 'high pitched mechanical/metal on metal/friction' whine upon startup. It sounds like nothing ive heard in a rotary before, or a piston engine either. May be some sort of high pressure valve/setup; no idea. Has since the day i bought it; i just want to know what it is, and why its there.
I intended to post a sound clip and video clip based on where one was standing, properly calibrated so you could hear what i am talking about. I work in film/television, but dont have my good recording equipment (video or audio) at the moment; this weekend i will have access to them and an open soundstage so i can properly record and deliver an accurate representation of the 'noise' i am referring to.

The requirement is for 10 credited posts AND 30 days. You have the 30 days, but not the 10 posts.
Does the noise disappear after a minute or so? or does it fade off? does it do it perpetually?

As for the noise, it does fade off eventually, but takes a few minutes based on warm-up time. it DOES die off slowly after first 1-3 minutes, variably, based on ambient air temperature, and logically, ie colder ambient=longer weird temp times.
will do tommorow AM, asap and report back. i do intend to record the sound and post here regardless, but that means getting back to the studio with proper recording equipment saturday.

If it fades slowly, it is unlikely to be the air pump. The air pump only ever runs for the first 20-30 seconds (more the colder the ambient air and engine is, less the warmer they are, starting a hot engine won't turn it on at all), and it will shut off abruptly when it is done.
This may be a failing pulley from one of your belt driven accessories.

I went the belt and pulley direction first and with all belts removed the noise is still there. Pulled the wire connect on the top of the air pump and with belts still off, the noise is still there. today is a warmer day, so not staying as long but just as bad. Any other ideas?
