Starting issues

hey guys, I am having an issue with starting. I have sort of in a way learned to put up with it but still want to get it sorted.

Symptoms are...

- Cold start takes a little but not so long its a worry
- If I restart the car within a minute or two of shutting it down it fires up fine
- If i let it sit for more than a few minutes it struggles

When it struggles I have figured out that if I crank it for say 2 seconds and then stop,
then crank it for another two seconds, then stop it usually cranks a bit better each time and fires straight
up on the third time (sometimes the forth)

I have all new BHR plugs, coils and leads. Air filter is new, oil is always fresh (running Penrite 5w30 mineral).

I have also tried running a set of jumper leads to a very large high cca battery to make sure it isn't my battery.
If the tacho is accurate during cranking it looks as though my starter is up to speed, getting at least 250ish rpm.

Now my next plan of attack is the Cat. Would a partially Blocked cat cause starting issues of this nature.
I should also mention that the issue is variable, meaning sometimes its not to bad, other times its a pain in the ***.
