Hi! New to the site. The 8 has been my dream car for the longest time, and I managed to buy this one locally and fairly cheaply. I recently bought a '04 6MT from the original owner, 168K miles on the engine, about 100K on the current one according to the owner. I didn't run a compression test (I know, dangerous move) and it seems to be healthy with no problems doing a hot start, though according to him it has the upgraded starter. He bought it from the dealer with ~9500 miles on the clock, apparently it was a demo car. If anyone knows any history with RX-8 demo cars, I would be delighted to know. It seems like the previous owner did keep up with maintenance but did not provide me with much of a service history. This car is very broken in a lot of ways, and I've slowly been tackling the issues. I plan to use this place as a blog for the unique issues I find, though it seems like every issue I've had already has an excellent thread dealing with it. It seems like every time I start the car it throws another error. The only thing out of my level of experience is the amount of rust on the rocker panel - either I'm going to have to weld a new sheet in place or cut it out from a donor car. I do have an Instagram @projectrotor where I'll mainly post my work and not spam this place. I know its banal, but I'd love suggestions on names for the 8. Thanks for reading!
