SSV Problem/Limp Mode
SSV Problem/Limp Mode
Hey guys,
*I tried to post this in the Series 1 Tech forum, but I didn't have access*
Motor blew in my 2004. I purchased a wrecked 2005 and swapped motor. Things went well, but the SSV is completely jammed. I removed it from my old motor which swung free, but when i cleaned and inserted into the new motor it is completely bound.
The valve moves free til I tighten it all the way down, then it is completely immobilized. If i unthread it about 5 turns, it moves free. (i tried both valves)
This is putting me into LIMP mode, but from what I've read, this shouldn't do that.
P2070 is the only code I have gotten (and a p0661, but that one didn't come back after I reset codes)
And ideas on why BOTH clean valves bind when tightened down. and why this would put me into LIMP mode?
Thanks
Paul

Would this cause a LIMP issue?
Line up the gasket on the intake to be sure you have the right orientation. If you line it up on the valve it will look right either way.
I don't know much about limp mode, but i wouldn't think that a stuck ssv valve would cause it.

My favorite Whitney Motors video on cleaning the SSV:
