If i'm planning to take my SSV out to clean it, how should I be cleaning it, are there any special products or is it a simple wash type deal? (tips would be appreciated aswell)

 

I just use a wire buff to get most of it off .

I soaked mine in a gallon can of carburetor cleaner for about an hour. Suspended it with a wire across the top so the regulator stayed above the solvent.

 

I might have to do this instead, it seems like it worked really well, just keep the actuator above the fluid?

 

I made a point to keep the external parts out of the solution. There are electrical parts that I didn't want to accidentally mess up and I don't know what is in the vacuum diaphragm that could be damaged by the solvent. Make sure you apply a small amount of light oil on the end of ssv when you reinstall it.

 

I wonder what is so hard about removing one little clip to get the actuator off ?

 

It's probably not... this was my first time taking a rotary apart so I'm going through a steep learning curve but I would not have even attempted the teardown without having access to this forum. The knowledge base here is second to none and I'm thankful for the work you guys put into it.
