Selling Legacy GT for S1 RX-8?

Hello rotary heads!
I have a 2005 Legacy GT that I have had since new. Only has 106k on it, but I have always liked the RX-8 and would like to switch it up. I like the S1 more than the s2 as far as looks. I would prefer a 40th AE if I could.

Anyone else gone from a subaru to an RX-8? I live in SoCal and do a lot of canyon driving, I want to start doing lapping days and autos, but want to go to rwd platform.

I didn't have one myself, but my track buddy had one for a while, with some mods. They're fun cars!

You'll miss the take-off torque, although at speed the differences are less pronounced. My friend's LGT always felt a little unsettled to me, like it was never sure it wanted to settle into a given manoeuvre, where the RX does what it's told. But obviously I have more seat time in the RX.

I also find the RX easier to work on, everything seems more accessible. You will miss the trunk space of the LGT Also, being in SoCal this might matter: the RX-8's AC is not as good as the LGT's. It's not terrible, but don't expect to be cold.

I have heard about the climate control on the RX-8. I am a windows down with the ac on type of guy, so that won't bother me too much I suppose. The LGT is a great car, but the RX-8 was built to be a sport car. Things that attract me to the 8 are some of things that detract others. For one, I like that the car does't take well to mods. I rather spend the money on tires and refreshing the car. From what I read even coil overs (cheap) are not much of an improvement if any over the stock setup.
I once had an s2000 and it was a blast. Torque is fun but revving the **** out an engine is better to me.
I think It's a beautiful car.

you said you do a lot of canyon driving which is where the 8 shines. Just keep in mind she does not sip fuel. Average fuel economy ranges from around 16 to 18 city to 21 to 24 highway. With our tank capacity you are in the 300 mile range or so. Just something to consider. Some people just are in awe with the cars physical appearance and take little consideration into other factors.

I am well aware about that she's thirsty. Doesn't bother me as much. The LGT gets about 23 mixed. Wife is getting a 500e and I pretty much Bike to work. Might get a road master wagon for longer trips/ towing.

It sounds like you have the right motivation to enjoy this car. Like stated above some people get one because it looks nice and then complain mileage/torque/engine etc. Doesn't sound like you'll have that problem.

There is a great thread here: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/ for potential owners.
