The Secret Menu.

Here is a link the codes descriptions in the hidden menu when you hold the ODO/reset trip button.. I own a 2004 RX--8.
I will post pictures of all the work I've personally done and will continue to do. And we all know its journey.. However I came across this hidden menu while
I was resetting my ECU.. If you push the trip button while it says test.. You will come across different number of codes..They are all test code options for The RX*8..
I guess all Madza Have this menu..THanks for letting join the forum..

there’s no secret, it’s been on the forum forever as I copied and explained where you asked elsewhere on the forum. Which I also explained that you need the service manual for your specific model year RX8 to have all the code information properly for it. Some of those codes and information relative to it may be similar to other RX8s and even other Mazda vehicles, but not necessarily.

Again for all internet/forum noobies; doing a google search and typing in this phrase exactly (no spaces etc.)

site:rx8club.com

along with other search words and phrases relative to the topic you’re trying to find out about limits the search specific to this website, or any other you list the same way.

because one of the reasons the forum search here on the forum is so dysfunctional is because of people continuously starting new threads on old, well worn topics or posting off topic in the wrong thread, and other numbskull moves clutteringbeverything up. Google search using that phrase can help sift through that clutter though.

however, you also have to be prepared to read through a lot of things that may seem irrelevant at the time, but grows you in knowledge and understanding in general if you invest the time.

for those of you looking for the quick answer and can’t be bothered with any of that that, just be prepared that you might get a bite on the buttocks thinking you’re special and deserve to get everything handed to you on a silver platter doing as you please and everyone else be danged. Because there’s pretty much nothing new under the sun on a car that began production 17 years ago and ceased production 9 years ago. It’s all by and large here at your fingertips if you really desire to know and make some self-effort at finding it.

Starting new threads on old subjects, posting off topic in the wrong thread, responding to a post made 5+ years ago and that member isn’t here any more, trying to be the forum expert in your first year or two posting erroneous statements, and so on is not the way to make yourself an accepted member of the community. People here will help and guide you if you act accordingly though.

best wishes

I welcomed you just fine and with thorough consideration in the other thread where you asked the question. There’s no need to get bristled up and be dishonest about it. I didn’t call you names or curse at you. At the same time I feel a responsibility to guide you properly. Perhaps you don’t understand that’s why new members are limited here and not just let loose to demonstrate their lack of understanding all over the forum initially. Or learn the hard way. I certainly chose to learn that way and have no hesitation to teach same if that’s what it takes.

It’s the difference between agapae (Greek; moral responsibility) love and phileo (Greek; emotional, sappy, worldly, irresponsible) love. The world in general no longer understands the difference. More than happy to help you as many people here do know and can testify of, but help is given on the terms of the giver and not on the terms of those in need. To expect otherwise might be a bit arrogant, right? Take heed and consider your ways is my best advice to offer here.

This menu isn’t secret and has been known for over 15 years. There are also many other diagnostic “secrets” in addition to this one you posted. Happy revving!

it took about 30 minutes of my time to dig up and post it:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tro...3/#post4934763

but please don’t misunderstand my words; I’m just a member here with no say or particular standing, the same as most anyone else.

however, if you want to go toe-to-toe and tussle; I’m your guy

or if you sincerely want and need real help; I’m your guy

what I’m not is tolerant of ego, vanity, people who think they’re free to say and do as they please, but how dare anyone else respond or do the same back to them in kind.

if I’ve seen any of those, I’ve seen more than can possibly be remembered after being on here for 15+ years. In general, you get a feel for that sort of thing and how it’s likely to go. You’ll find me straight forward when writing. Best not to read between the lines or imply any emotion with my words as that often isn’t the case, but seems to be a common default mode for some people when they’re reading them. It’s not personal at all; a difference of opinion is only that. If there’s anything I can do to help, feel free to pm me.
