There's a thread on here where one of our members, RIWWP, who is also the author of rx8help.com, compared results from decarbing with SeaFoam and with water. Seafoam did very little. Water did more, but only because it's cheap and you can run as much as you want through it. Your mileage may vary, all it costs is a can of SeaFoam and your time. But the smoke is not carbon burning off, its the SeaFoam.
