Rx8 starting issues

I have 2005 rx8 manual. Stoped driving and wont start. When you turn the key you can hear the starter motor working but nothing from the engine. No cranking or any movement at all.

Any info or help would be appreciated

So you hear the starter turning? You have a bad solenoid on your starter. Replace the starter.

Maybe a bad battery? Either died or alternator not charging it. Tried jumpstarting it?

yeah dont hear it hitting the flywheel. Not even trying to crank engine. Only hear it spinning. Its a n3h1-A starter motor. Do you think the plunger drive isnt coming out? And its just staying retracted and spining in place? So you think it needs replaced?

Have you tried putting it into gear, rocking the car back and forth, shift back into neutral, and then starting it?

Best to remove the starter at this point and have it tested. Places like Autozone will test it for you for free.
