Hi all this is my first post so bear with me.
Right I've just got myself a 2005 rx8 with 60k on clock.
Firstly it's been sitting for nearly a year and when I hooked some jumper leads up to it and cranked it you can hear the starter motor but it doesn't seem to be spinning the engine because you cannot see any belts moving.so i tried starting it in every gear and it doesn't leap or do anything.not sure my next step.
I know little to nothing about these cars apart from starting procedure so help or advice would be great.

Has no one heard of this.
I've been enquiring and someone said ring gear or seized engine.can an engine seize after sitting for a long time.

 

U obviously had the clutch pressed in, right? Were u jping from a strong source?? Y not try kick start it?

 

If you hear the starter whirring but the engine isn't turning over then your starter solenoid has failed.

Replace your starter with an S2 starter (14 tooth) or an upgraded S1 starter (13 tooth). Do not go with an original S1 (11 tooth) starter.
